한국 만 15세 학생들의 ‘창의력 – 창의적 사고력’이 경제협력개발기구(OECD) 최상위 수준인 것으로 나타났다. The country’s 15-year-olds rank among the best in creative thinking among those in member countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
교육부는 이같은 내용을 담은 ‘국제 학업성취도평가(PISA) 2022 창의적 사고력 평가 결과’를 18일 발표했다. The Ministry of Education on June 18 announced the content of the “Creative Minds, Creative Schools” report of the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).
OECD가 주관하는 PISA는 만 15세 학생의 읽기·수학·과학 소양과 혁신적 영역을 국제적으로 평가·비교하기 위해 지난 2000년부터 3년 주기로 시행하는 조사다. 이번 조사는 세계 64국의 만 15세 학생을 대상으로 이뤄졌다. 한국은 186개교 학생 6931명이 참여했다.
The OECD-run PISA, a triennial international survey launched in 2000, assesses the reading, mathematics, science and creative thinking abilities of 15-year-old students in participating countries. Of the 64 nations that took part, Korea polled 6,931 students from 186 schools.
한국은 60점 만점에 평균 38점을 기록해 싱가포르(41점)에 이어 캐나다와 함께 공동 2위에 올랐다. OECD 회원국 평균 점수는 33점이다. With an average score of 38 out of a possible 60, the nation was tied for second with Canada behind leader Singapore with 41. The OECD average for creative thinking was 33.
‘창의적 사고력’은 다양한 아이디어로 문제를 효과적으로 해결하는 역량을 의미한다. 평가는 총 32개 문항을 통해 ‘아이디어 형성 능력’과 ‘표현·해결 능력’을 측정했다.
Creative thinking refers to the ability to effectively solve problems using a variety of ideas. PISA measured this quality through 32 questions that tested students’ ability to create, express and implement solutions.
PISA 2022는 창의적 사고력 성취도와 관계를 설명할 수 있는 교육맥락변인에 대한 설문조사도 했다. 한국은 ‘창의적 학교 환경’과 ‘창의적 학교 활동 참여’ 지수에서 OECD 회원국 평균보다 높게 나타났다.
PISA 2022 also surveyed educational context factors that could explain the relationship with creative thinking achievement. Korea scored above the OECD average in creative thinking in school environment and participation in creative school activities.
이와 관련해 교육부는 “학생들의 창의적 사고력 향상을 위한 학교 현장의 노력을 확인할 수 있었다”고 밝혔다. The ministry said “We were able to confirm school efforts to improve the creative thinking skills of students.”
다만 한국의 ‘창의적 사고력 자아효능감’ 지수가 OECD 회원국 평균보다 낮게 나타난 결과에 대해선 “창의적 사고력 점수가 높은 나라에서 자아효능감 지수가 낮게 나타나는 경향이 있다”는 OECD의 설명을 언급했다.
On the nation’s low score in the creative thinking self-efficacy index, the ministry quoted the OECD as saying countries with higher scores in creative thinking tend to have lower indexes in self-efficacy.
