교통카드를 찍지 않아도 자동으로 요금이 결제되는 ‘비접촉 대중교통 결제(태그리스) 시스템’이 이르면 내년부터 서울 지하철 1호선에서 8호선까지, 그리고 시내버스에 적용된다.
As early as next year, Seoul Metropolitan Subway lines 1-8 and intracity buses will adopt a “tagless” system of mass transit payment that automatically deducts fares without the need to swipe a card.
서울시는 태그리스 시스템의 상용화와 확대를 위해 기술 표준을 수립한다고 밝혔다. 세계 최고 수준이라 평가받는 서울시 대중교통 시설에 태그리스 이용 환경을 신속히 구축해 고도화된 교통서비스를 제공하겠다는 목표다.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said it will set technical standards to commercialize the system and expand it to the entire metropolitan area. The goal is to provide advanced mass transit services by quickly erecting a tagless environment in the capital’s world-class public transit system.
태그리스는 개찰구를 통과하기만 해도 결제가 돼 편리성이 높고, 교통약자가 편리하게 이용할 수 있다. 여기에 교통카드를 찍지 않고 바로 지나갈 수 있어 승객이 몰리는 출퇴근 시간대에 역사의 혼잡도를 완화시킬 것으로 기대된다는 게 시의 설명이다.
The tagless system offers major convenience and accessibility, especially for those with mobility impairments, as a passenger simply walks through a turnstile to pay with no smart card needed. This is expected to reduce congestion during rush hour when stations experience high passenger volume.
서울 우이신설선 12개 역사에선 이미 지난해 9월부터 태그리스가 적용되고 있다. 태그리스 서비스가 상용화된 건 세계 최초다. In September last year, the system became the first in the world to commercialize the tagless method on 12 stations of the Ui-Sinseol Light Rail Transit in the capital.
서울 지하철을 운영하는 서울교통공사는 내년 하반기까지 1~8호선에 태그리스 기술을 도입할 수 있도록 다양한 실증사업을 펼치고 있다. The Seoul Metro, operator of the capital’s subway system, is running pilot projects to have tagless technology used on all lines by the second half of next year.
서울 시내버스 역시 버스 태그리스 승하차 시험을 마치고 현재 정확도 증가 및 결제 속도 단축 등을 위한 시스템 고도화를 실행하고 있다. 올해 11월 시내버스 1개 노선을 대상으로 실증시험을 거친 후 내년 상반기부터 단계적으로 도입하는 방안을 검토 중이다.
The city’s intracity buses have also completed tagless boarding and disembarkation trials and the system is undergoing an upgrade for higher accuracy and faster payment processing. Following a verification test on a single route in November, the phased rollout of the system for intracity buses is under consideration for the first half of next year.
