배우 김민희가 제77회 로카르노 국제영화제에서 홍상수 감독의 영화 ‘수유천’으로 최우수연기상을 받았다. Actor Kim Min-hee has won the Best Performance Award at this year’s Locarno International Film Festival of Switzerland for her role in “By the Stream” by director Hong Sang-soo.
17일(현지 시각) 스위스 로카르노에서 열린 시상식에서 영화 ‘수유천’에 출연한 김민희가 국제 경쟁부문 최우수연기상 수상자 중 한 명으로 호명됐다.
Kim on Aug. 17 was announced as one of the two winners of the honor in the festival’s International Competition section at the awards ceremony in Locarno, Switzerland.
‘수유천’은 홍 감독의 32번째 연출작으로, 여자대학교 강사가 외삼촌에게 촌극 연출을 부탁하며 벌어지는 이야기를 그렸다. As Hong’s 32nd film, “By the Stream” is what happens to a lecturer at a women’s university when she asks her maternal uncle to direct a skit.
‘수유천’은 ‘우리 선희’(2013), ‘지금은 맞고 그때는 틀리다’(2015), ‘강변호텔’(2018)에 이어 네 번째 로카르노영화제에 공식 초청된 홍 감독의 작품이다. The movie was also the director’s fourth to receive an official invitation to the festival, following “Our Sunhi” (2013), “Right Now, Wrong Then” (2015) and “Hotel by the River” (2018).
김민희는 리투아니아와 라트비아가 공동제작한 영화 속 4명의 배우와 함께 최우수연기상 수상자로 선정됐다. The other Best Performance Award went to four actors in the Lithuanian-Latvian film “Drowning Dry.”
시상대에 오른 김민희는 한국어로 “로카르노와 심사위원단에 진심으로 감사드린다. 길게 찍고 싶었는데 5일이 너무 짧았다” 며 “그 짧은 시간이 행복했고 너무 즐거웠다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
“I sincerely thank Locarno and the jury. I wanted filming to last longer as five days was too short,” Kim said in Korean while accepting her award. “That short period of time was so enjoyable and happy for me.”
이어 “영화를 보고 따뜻한 말을 건네주신 관객들도 다 너무 고맙다” 면서 홍 감독에게도 “이렇게 아름다운 영화를 만들어주신 홍상수 감독님, 저는 당신의 영화를 너무 사랑한다”며 감사를 표했다.
“I’m so grateful to audiences who said nice comments after watching the film,” she added. “To director Hong Sang-soo, who made such a lovely film, I adore all of your films.”
한편 ‘수유천’은 로카르노 영화제에서 월드 프리미어로 공개한 후 올해 하반기 국내 개봉할 예정이다. After its global premiere at the festival, “By the Stream” will be released in Korea later this year.
지난 1946년 시작된 로카르노 국제영화제는 매년 8월에 열리는 세계 6대 영화제다. 예술적이고 실험적인 작가주의 영화들을 선보이는 것으로 알려졌다.
Launched in 1946, the festival is among the world’s six best. Held every August in the Swiss city, it features artistic, experimental and auteuristic works.
