V+ 는다고/ㄴ다고 하니까
A+ 다고 하니까
It is used with an action verb or descriptive verb stem. It is used to demand or suggest the reaction of the following clause which is based on one’s statement. It is combined with the expression by ‘-는다고/ㄴ다고/다고 하다, an indirect quotation and ‘ -으니까/니까 ‘as reason expression.

‘-는다고 하니까’ is used if it ends with the consonant of the action verb stem. ‘-ㄴ다고 하니까’ is used if it ends with the vowel. ‘-다고 하니까’ is used for the ending of the descriptive verb stem.

약국이 8시에 문을 닫는다고 하니까 빨리 가.
Since the pharmacy is closing at 8 o’clock, go there quickly.

도착하면 전화한다고 하니까 기다려 봐.
Wait a moment since he is going to give me a call when he arrives.

내일은 춥다고 하니까 옷을 따뜻하게 입어.
Put on warm clothes because it will be cold tomorrow.
