문화체육관광부(문체부)가 한국콘텐츠진흥원(콘진원)과 함께 ‘제1회 글로벌 웹툰 어워즈'(어워즈)에 출품할 작품을 전 세계에서 공모한다고 27일 밝혔다.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on June 27 said it is accepting submissions for the inaugural Global Webtoon Awards in cooperation with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA).
공모 대상은 지난 2022년 1월부터 올해 5월까지 국내외 웹툰 플랫폼에서 3개월 이상 연재된 작품이다. 작가 본인은 물론이고 작가의 동의를 얻은 플랫폼, 제작사, 협회·단체 등도 신청할 수 있다. 공모기간은 27일부터 오는 7월 26일까지다.
The contest is open to webtoons serialized for at least three months on domestic and international platforms between January 2022 and last month. Though artists can directly submit their works, webtoon platforms, production companies, associations and organizations can also enter with creator consent. The event period is from July 27 to Aug. 26.
신청 작품 외의 우수 작품 발굴을 위해 전문가로 구성된 ‘어워즈 위원회’를 통해 작품 추천도 받는다. The awards committee of experts will also consider recommended works of excellence in addition to submissions to find hidden gems.
문체부는 신청 작품과 추천 작품을 모아 심사위원단의 심사를 거쳐 본상 10편을 선정한다. The ministry will collect both submitted and recommended works to have the contest’s judging panel select 10 winners.
시상식은 서울시와 공동으로 주최하는 ‘제1회 글로벌 웹툰 페스티벌’과 연계해 개최한다. 시상식에선 본상 10편의 시상을 비롯해 본상 중 대상 1편, 심사위원장상 1편을 현장에서 각각 발표한다.
The awards ceremony will coincide with the inaugural Global Webtoon Festival co-organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. In addition to the competition’s 10 honors, the grand prize and the jury prize will be announced at the event.
문체부는 지난 1월 ‘만화·웹툰 산업 발전 방향’을 발표하고 웹툰계의 ‘칸 영화제’를 만들겠다고 밝힌 바 있다. 이번 어워즈는 이를 실현하기 위한 첫걸음이다.
In January, the ministry announced under its plan to advance domestic cartoons and webtoons the launch of awards dubbed the Cannes of webtoons. This marks the initial step toward achieving this vision.
