한국이 올해 유럽혁신지수 결과에서 글로벌 경쟁국 중 12년 연속 1위를 기록했다. The country is No. 1 in the rankings of the European Innovation Scoreboard for the 12th consecutive year.
과학기술정보통신부(과기정통부)는 유럽연합 집행위원회가 발표한 올해 유럽혁신지수 결과에서 한국이 119점으로 글로벌 경쟁국 중 가장 높은 혁신 성과를 기록했다고 6일 밝혔다. The Ministry of Science and ICT on Aug. 6 said Korea’s innovation score of 119 this year was the highest among competitor countries, according to the European Commission.
유럽혁신지수는 유럽연합 집행위가 27개 유럽 회원국과 12개 인접국, 11개 글로벌 경쟁국 간 혁신 성과를 비교해 2001년부터 매년 발표하는 지수다. 혁신 여건, 투자, 혁신 활동, 파급효과 등 총 4개 부문 32개 지표를 사용해 평가하고 한국을 포함한 글로벌 경쟁국은 19개 지표만 사용해 평가한다.
Since 2001, the annual survey results are announced by the EC based on comparisons of the innovation results of 27 European Union member states, 12 neighboring countries and 11 global competitors. The results are based on 32 statistical indicators in four categories: framework conditions, investments, innovation activities and impacts. Global competitors like Korea receive assessment using only 19 of the indicators.
올해 결과에 따라 한국은 캐나다(115점), 미국(107점), 중국(95점), 일본(93점) 등 글로벌 경쟁국 중 가장 높은 점수를 받았다. 19개 평가지표 중 11개 지표에서 유럽연합 평균 대비 우수(100점 이상)한 것으로 나타났다.
Scoring higher than Canada (115), the U.S. (107), China (95) and Japan (93) this year, Korea also did better than the EU average of 100 or above in 11 of the 19 indicators.
특히 상표 출원(608.6점), 디자인 출원(309.0점), 기업 분야 연구개발(R&D) 투자(250.0점) 지표에서 우위를 보였다. Korea was also dominant in trademark (608.6 points) and design applications (309) as well as investment for business research and development (250).
다만 제품혁신 도입 중소기업(28.4점), 비즈니스 공정혁신 도입 중소기업(12.2점), 미세먼지 대기 방출량(59.1점) 등의 지표에선 열세였다.
The country, however, was behind in the categories of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with product (28.4) and business process innovations (12.2) and air emissions by fine particulates PM 2.5 in industry (59.1).
과기정통부는 “중소기업 혁신 활동 지원, 탄소중립 정책, 글로벌 R&D 정책·사업 추진 등을 통해 취약 지표 부문을 개선해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
The ministry said, “Through support for innovation activities of SMEs, carbon neutrality policy, and promotion of global R&D policies and projects, we will improve on our weak indexes.”
