올해도 전 세계 관객들에게 재미와 감동을 선사할 한국 영화와 드라마가 찾아온다. This year’s lineup of Korean movies and dramas is expected to excite and touch audiences around the world.
가장 기대를 모으는 작품은 봉준호 감독의 신작 ‘미키17’이다. ‘기생충'(2019)으로 아카데미상 4개 부문을 휩쓴 봉 감독이 5년 만에 다시 메가폰을 잡았다. 배급사인 미국 워너 브라더스가 전 세계에 공개한 예고편에 따르면 극장 개봉일은 3월 29일이다.
Perhaps the most anticipated work is director Bong Joon-ho’s “Mickey 17,” his first film since “Parasite” (2019), which won four Academy Awards. The global trailer released by the movie’s distributor Warner Bros. of the U.S. said the science fiction thriller is slated for global release at theaters on March 29.
영화는 얼음으로 덮인 우주 행성을 개척하는 작업에 투입된 복제인간의 이야기를 다룬 에드워드 애슈턴 소설 ‘미키 7’을 원작으로 했다. ‘더 배트맨'(2022)과 ‘트와일라잇'(2008)의 로버트 패틴슨이 주연을 맡았고 ‘미나리'(2021)의 주연을 맡은 스티븐 연도 출연한다.
About a human clone sent to explore an ice-covered planet, “Mickey 7” is based on the eponymous novel by American science-fiction and fantasy writer Edward Ashton. Actor Robert Pattinson, who starred in “The Batman” (2022) and “Twilight” (2008), plays the lead role and is joined by actor Steven Yeun, who played the protagonist in “Minari” (2021).
2022년 제75회 칸국제영화제에서 ‘헤어질 결심’으로 감독상을 수상한 박찬욱 감독은 넷플릭스와 액션 사극 ‘전,란’을 제작한다. 메가폰은 김상만 감독이 잡았다.
Director Park Chan-wook, who won Best Director at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival for “Decision to Leave,” is producing a historical action movie for Netflix titled “War and Revolt.” Kim Sang-man is the director.
조선시대 임진왜란을 배경으로 한 ‘전,란’은 함께 자란 조선 최고 무신 집안의 아들과 그의 몸종이 선조의 최측근 무관과 의병으로 적이 돼 다시 만나는 이야기다. 강동원, 박정민, 차승원 등이 출연한다.
Set during the Imjin War (1592-98), which broke out after Japan invaded the Korean Peninsula, the film has as its main characters Jong-ryeo, the son of a leading military officer of the Joseon Dynasty, and his servant Cheon-yeong. They grow up together but meet again as enemies, with Jong-ryeo as the closest military official to King Seonjo and Cheon-yeong a “righteous army” soldier, or one who voluntarily fights in an armed conflict to defend the country. The cast includes actors Gang Dong-won, Park Jung-min, and Cha Seung-won.
개봉 일정이 확정되지 않은 속편들도 눈길을 끈다. 마동석 주연의 ‘범죄도시4’는 형사 마석도(마동석)가 불법도박 범죄조직을 소탕하는 내용이다. 류승완 감독의 ‘베테랑’(2015)을 잇는 ‘베테랑 2’가 9년 만에 선보인다. 황정민이 주연을 맡고 정해인 등이 출연한다.
Sequels with unconfirmed release dates are also attracting attention. The action thriller “The Roundup: No Way Out 4” centers on detective Ma Seok-do (played by actor Ma Dong-seok) fighting illegal gambling and criminal rings. Director Ryoo Seung-wan will release “Veteran 2,” a sequel to “Veteran” (2015) starring actor Hwang Jung-min in the lead role as well as Jung Hae-in.
온라인동영상서비스(OTT) 플랫폼에서는 인기작의 후속작과 외전들이 공개될 예정이다. Sequels to and spin-offs of popular works will also appear on over-the-top (OTT) platforms.
먼저 넷플릭스에서는 ‘오징어 게임’이 시즌2로 돌아온다. 2021년 공개된 ‘오징어 게임’은 넷플릭스 역사상 가장 많은 시청 시간을 기록하며 전 세계적 신드롬을 일으켰다. 성기훈 역의 이정재를 비롯해 이병헌, 임시완, 강하늘, 공유 등이 출연한다. 이외에도 연상호 감독의 ‘지옥 2’와 이응복, 박소현 감독이 연출한 ‘스위트홈3’가 올해 중 시청자와 만난다.
Netflix will release Season 2 of the smash hit series “Squid Game” (2021), which holds the record on the OTT site for most streaming hours in taking the world by storm. This season stars actor Lee Jung-Jae, who will reprise his role as protagonist Seong Gi-hun, as well as fellow cast members Lee Byung-hun, Yim Si-wan, Kang Haneul, and Gong Yoo. Netflix will also premiere the second season of the supernatural drama “Hellbound” directed by Yeon Sang-ho and the third of “Sweet Home” directed by Lee Eung-bok and Park So-hyun.
애플TV+는 윤여정, 이민호 등이 출연한 ‘파친코’ 시즌2를 공개할 전망이다. 재미교포 이민진 작가의 동명 장편소설을 원작으로 한 ‘파친코’는 1910년대부터 1980년대까지 재일조선인 4대 가족의 삶을 그린 드라마다.
The second season of the historical drama “Pachinko” starring actors Youn Yuh-jung and Lee Min-ho will debut on Apple TV+. Based on the bestselling novel of the same title by Korean American author Min Jin Lee, the series depicts four generations of ethnic Korean residents in Japan from the 1910s to the 80s.
