문화체육관광부(문체부)가 제578돌 한글날을 맞아 전 세계 28개국 31개 재외 한국문화원에서 다양한 기념행사를 개최한다고 7일 밝혔다. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Oct. 7 announced events at its 31 Korean Cultural Centers (KCCs) in 28 countries to celebrate the 578th Hangeul Day, which falls on Oct. 9.
주프랑스한국문화원은 7일 공연 ‘세종대왕과 기욤 마쇼의 만남’을 통해 동양의 오선율과 서양의 다성음악을 접목한 곡을 선보인다. The KCC in France on Oct. 7 will hold the concert “Meeting King Sejong and Guillaume de Machaut,” a combination of Eastern pentatonic and Western polyphonic music.
주벨기에유럽연합한국문화원은 9일 국립창극단과 함께 ‘토선생, 용궁 가다’를 유럽에서 처음 무대에 올린다. 문체부는 “유럽에서 전통 가락에 어우러진 우리말의 아름다움을 널리 알릴 수 있을 것”이라는 기대를 밝혔다.
For the first time in Europe, the KCC of the European Union in Belgium and National Changgeuk Company of Korea on Oct. 9 will hold “Changgeuk Concert: Mr. Rabbit’s Journey to the Underwater Palace.” The ministry said, “We hope to widely spread the beauty of our (Korean) language blended with traditional European melodies.”
주LA한국문화원과 주러시아한국문화원이 개최하는 ‘한국 시 낭송대회’에선 한국어 학습자들이 시를 낭송하며 한국어 실력을 뽐낸다. The KCCs in Los Angeles and Russia will hold contests for reciting Korean poetry in which students of the language show off their skills.
한국 문학과 한글의 아름다움을 알리는 행사도 마련됐다. 주인도네시아문화원은 오는 11일부터 13일까지 도서전 ‘케이(K)-북, 메타버스를 타고’을 열어 한국 문학을 홍보한다. 주상하이문화원은 지난달 4일부터 국립한글박물관과 함께 한글문화상품특별전 ‘아름다운 한글, 예술이 되다’을 개최해 한글로 디자인한 문화상품으로 한글의 미적 가치를 알리고 있다.
An event in Indonesia will promote Korean literature and Hangeul. The KCC in Jakarta from Oct. 11-13 will host the book fair “K-book: Exploring the Metaverse.”
Since Sept. 4, the KCC in Shanghai and National Hangeul Museum in Seoul have held “Beautiful Hangeul, Becoming Art,” an exhibition of Hangeul-related items that promotes the aesthetic value of the Korean alphabet through cultural products using related designs.
이밖에 한국어 말하기 대회(뉴욕, 베트남, 스페인, 튀르키예, 남아프리카공화국), 한국어 토론회(브라질), 멋글씨(캘리그래피) 체험(도쿄, 상하이, 호주, 태국, 필리핀, 이집트, 오스트리아, 폴란드, 이탈리아 등), 한국어·한국문화 퀴즈 대회(독일, 홍콩, 태국, 이란, 아랍에미리트, 나이지리아)와 같은 다채로운 한글날 행사가 세계 각지에서 열린다.
KCCs in New York, Vietnam, Spain, Turkiye (Turkey) and South Africa will host Korean speech contests. The center in Brazil will have a debate conducted in Korean, while those in Tokyo, Shanghai, Australia, Thailand, the Philippines, Egypt, Austria, Poland and Italy will hold calligraphy workshops.
Quizzes on the Korean language and culture will be held at KCCs in Germany, Hong Kong, Thailand, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Nigeria.
문체부는 “이번 한글날을 계기로 열리는 다양한 문화행사에서 전 세계 많은 사람들이 한글‧한국어와 한국문화의 아름다움을 경험하고, 우리 말과 글도 널리 확산하길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
The ministry said, “Through diverse cultural events to mark Hangeul Day, we hope for many people around the world to experience the beauty of Hangeul and the Korean language and culture, and for our language and its letters spread widely.”
