국제회의 참가자 본인에게만 적용되던 입국 우대 심사 혜택이 동반자 2명까지 확대됐다. Foreign participants in international conferences in Korea can now bring up to two companions with them under the preferential entry screening system.
문화체육관광부와 법무부는 1일부터 입국 우대 심사 대상을 확대해, 참가자 본인 외에 가족이나 수행원 등 동반자 최대 2명까지 혜택을 부여하기로 했다고 밝혔다.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Justice announced that starting April 1, the system will extend benefits to up to two companions such as family members or staff accompanying the participant.
마이스(MICE) 입국 우대 심사제는 지난 2024년 10월 도입 이후 적용 기준을 ‘외국인 500명 이상’에서 ‘300명 이상’ 규모 회의로 점진적으로 완화하며 활용 범위를 넓혀왔다.
Since its introduction in October 2024, the MICE preferential entry screening system has gradually expanded by lowering the eligibility threshold from conferences with 500 or more foreign participants to those with 300 or more.
2024년 마이스 산업 통계에 따르면 외국인 300명 이상이 참여한 국제회의는 총 339건으로 참가 외국인은 약 21만 8000명에 달한다.
According to 2024 MICE statistics, Korea hosted 339 international conferences with 300 or more foreign participants, totaling about 218,000 attendees.
이번 제도 개선으로 참가자와 동반자의 입국 편의가 대폭 개선될 전망이다. 이는 방한 매력을 높이는 동시에 국제회의 유치와 개최 활성화에도 긍정적인 효과가 있을 것으로 기대된다.
The improvement is expected to greatly enhance entry convenience for participants and their companions, while also boosting Korea’s attractiveness as a destination and promoting the hosting of international conferences.
마이스 입국 우대 심사를 받으려면 K-MICE 누리집(https://k-mice.visitkorea.or.kr/)에서
신청서와 이용 대상자 서식을 작성한 뒤 온라인으로 신청하면 된다.
To apply, users can submit forms online through the K-MICE website after filling out the application and eligible participant documents.
문체부는 “방한 관광을 활성화하기 위해서는 고부가가치 산업인 ‘마이스’의 역할이 매우 중요하다”라며 “대한민국이 세계 최고의 ‘마이스’ 목적지로 자리매김하도록 관계 부처와 긴밀히 협력해 지원하겠다”라고 말했다.
“The role of MICE, a high value-added industry, is crucial for boosting inbound tourism,” the ministry said.
“We will closely cooperate with related ministries to support Korea in becoming a leading global MICE destination.”
