V+ 으라고/라고 해요(했어요).

얼마 전에 병원에서 건강 검진을 받았는데 혈압이 높게 나왔어요.
Recently, I had a health check-up at the hospital. My blood pressure turned out to be high.
그래요? 많이 높아요?
Really? Is it quite high?
다른 사람들에 비해서 높은 편이라고 했어요.
They said it’s higher compared to others.
너무 걱정하지 마세요. 지금부터 관리하면 돼요.
Don’t worry too much. You can take care of it from now on.
의사 선생님이 음식을 싱겁게 먹으라고 했어요. 그런데 전 맵고 짠 음식이 좋아요.
The doctor told me to eat less salty food. But I like spicy and salty food.
그래도 건강을 위해서 오늘부터 조금씩 싱겁게 드세요.
Try to reduce the saltiness from today for your health.

V+ 으라고/라고 해요(했어요).
It is an expression of indirect speech for ‘V+ 으십시오/십시오.’ and ‘V+ 으세요/세요.’ in an imperative sentence. The short form is ‘V+ 으래요/래요.’.

어렸을 때 엄마가 저에게 항상 고루고루 먹으라고 했어요.
My mother always told me to eat balanced meals when I was young.

제 친구가 남자 친구 때문에 힘들어해서 제가 헤어지라고 했어요.
My friend was having a hard time because of her boyfriend, so I told her to break up with her boyfriend.

선생님이 이번 시험이 어려우니까 열심히 공부하라고 해요.
The teacher told us to study hard because this exam would be difficult.
