V+ 고도

오빠, 며칠 전부터 허리가 또 아파.
Brother, my back began started to hurt a few days ago.
허리가 아프면 병원에 가야 하는 거 아니야?
If your back hurts, don’t you have to go to the hospital?
모레까지 좀 견뎌 보다가 더 심해지면 가지 뭐.
I am going to endure it for a little more until the day after tomorrow and if it gets more serious, I guess I will go.
그런데 너 아직도 앉을 때 다리를 꼬고 앉아? 예전에도 그 습관 때문에 허리가 아팠었잖아.
By the way, do you still sit with your legs crossed? Because of that habit, your back used to hurt.
응, 그때 의사 선생님에게 바른 자세로 앉으라는 말을 들었는데 잘 고쳐지지 않아.
Yeah, the doctor told me to sit in an upright posture, but, it’s not easily fixed.
의사 선생님의 충고를 듣고도 따르지 않으니 아파도 할 말이 없겠다.
After hearing the doctor’s advice and not listening to it, there is nothing to say even if it hurts.

V+ 고도
As it is attached to an action verb’s stem, it is used when there is different behavior or result which is not the same as what he expects the content from the preceding clause. It is not able to use imperative sentences and requesting(persuading) sentences.

게임 그만하라는 엄마 말을 듣고도 왜 못 들은 척하니?
Even after you heard that you must stop playing games, why do you pretend that you are not listening?

선생님께 그렇게 혼나고도 또 숙제를 안 했어?
Even after you were in big trouble with your teacher, why didn’t do you do your homework again?
