[Korean grammar] -(으)ㄹ 정도로 Expressing Degree

가: 오늘 돌아다니면서 구경 많이 했어요?
Did you get a lot of sightseeing done today?
나: 네, 피곤해서 쓰러질 정도로 많이 돌아다녔어요.
Yes, I was so tired from going here and there that I could have collapsed.

가: 비가 많이 오네요!
It’s really raining hard!
나: 네, 너무 많이 와서 앞이 잘 안 보일 정도예요.
Yeah, it’s raining so hard that I can hardly see in front of me.

This expression is used to indicate that the action or behavior in the following clause is being done or is occurring to a degree similar to what is described in the preceding clause. It is mainly used in the form -(으)ㄹ 정도로 or -(으)ㄹ 정도이다.

• 저는 매일 두 편씩 볼 정도로 영화를 좋아해요.
I like movies to the extent that I watch about two every day.

• 평소에 화를 안 내던 민수 씨가 회를 낼 정도로 지수 씨가 나쁜 짓을 한 거예요?
Did Jisu do something so bad that Minsu, who normally never gets angry, became angry?

• 이번 시험은 아주 쉬워서 중학생도 모두 풀 정도였어요.
This time, the exam was so easy that even a middle school student could have aced it.
