It is used to indicate the speaker had an intention to do something in the past.
배가 고파서 먼저 밥을 먹으려고 했어요.
I was going to eat first because I was hungry.
제 여동생이 안 와서 전화하려고 했어요.
My sister didn’t come, so I was going to call her.
아르바이트가 너무 힘들어서 그만두려고 했어요.
I was going to quit because the part-time job was so hard.
Conversation:
컴퓨터가 고장이 났어요. 한번 봐 주시겠어요?
