V/A+ (으)라는 말도 있잖아요.

It is used to quote something that the listener may already know. It is often used when you propose a behavior to the listener.

If the stem of an action verb or a descriptive verb ends with a vowel or ‘ㄹ’, you use ‘-라는’. If it ends with a consonant, you use ‘-으라는’.

급할수록 돌아가라는 말도 있잖아요.
There’s a saying that the more urgent you are, the more you need to go around.

돌다리도 두들겨 보고 건너라는 말도 있잖아요.
There’s a saying that you should beat a stone bridge before crossing it.

로마에 가면 로마법을 따르라는 말도 있잖아요.
There’s a saying that when you go to Rome, you have to follow Roman law.

Conversation:

내일 주말인데 뭐 할 거야? 삼림욕하러 수목원에 같이 갈래?
It’s the weekend tomorrow, what are you going to do? Would you like to go to the arboretum with me for a forest bath?

갑자기 웬 삼림욕. 그냥 맛있는 거 먹고 영화나 보는 게 어때?
A forest bath all of a sudden? Why don’t we just eat something delicious and watch a movie?

요즘 업무 때문에 스트레스가 너무 쌓였어.
I’ve been under a lot of stress lately because of my work.

숲길을 걸으면서 맑은 공기 좀 마시고 싶어.
I want to take a walk down the forest road and drink some fresh air.

그럼 그럴까? 하긴 나도 요즘 야근을 밥먹듯이 해서 너무 힘들었어.
Then shall we? Well, I’ve been having a hard time, too because I’ve been working overtime so often lately.

도시 생활에 지칠수록 자연을 벗 삼으라는 말도 있잖아.
There’s a saying that the more you get tired of city life, the more you should have nature as your buddy.
