서울이 세계 금융경쟁력 평가에서 8위를 기록하며 4년 연속 10위권을 유지했다. Seoul ranks eighth worldwide in financial competitiveness, staying in the top 10 for the fourth consecutive year.
서울시는 26일 영국 컨설팅그룹 지옌(Z/Yen)이 발표한 ‘국제금융센터지수(GFCI) 39차 보고서’에서 서울이 전 세계 137개 도시 가운데 종합 8위를 차지했다고 밝혔다.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government on March 26 said the capital placed eighth among 137 cities in the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI) report released by British consulting group Z/Yen.
서울은 지난 2009년 53위에서 2021년 16위, 2022년 12위로 꾸준히 상승한 데 이어 최근 4년 연속 10위권을 유지하며 안정적인 성장세를 이어가고 있다.
Seoul has steadily risen from 53rd in 2009 to 16th in 2021 and 12th in 2022, maintaining a stable upward trend by staying in the top 10 for the past four years.
이번 평가에서 서울은 도쿄(10위), 파리(19위)보다 높은 순위를 기록했다. 상위권에는 뉴욕(1위), 런던(2위), 홍콩(3위), 싱가포르(4위), 샌프란시스코(5위)가 이름을 올렸다.
In the latest survey, Seoul ranked higher than Tokyo (10th) and Paris (19th).
The top five cities were New York (1st), London (2nd), Hong Kong (3rd), Singapore (4th) and San Francisco (5th).
서울은 5개 평가 항목 전반에서 고르게 경쟁력을 인정받았다. 항목별로는 인적자원 8위, 기업환경 6위, 금융산업 발전 8위, 기반시설 10위, 도시평판 9위를 기록했다. 특히 기반시설 부문은 직전 평가 대비 9계단 상승하며 두드러진 개선을 보였다.
Seoul was recognized for its competitiveness across all five categories:
8th in human capital
6th in business environment
8th in financial sector development
10th in infrastructure
9th in reputation
Notably, infrastructure rose by nine spots from the previous evaluation.
GFCI는 지옌과 중국종합개발연구원(CDI)이 공동으로 발표하는 지수로, 세계 주요 도시의 금융 경쟁력을 평가한다. 인적자원, 기업환경, 금융산업 발전, 기반시설, 도시평판 등 5개 항목과 금융 종사자 온라인 설문조사를 종합해 산출된다. 매년 3월과 9월 두 차례 발표된다.
The GFCI, jointly released by Z/Yen and the China Development Institute, evaluates the financial competitiveness of major global cities.
It is based on five categories — human capital, business environment, financial sector development, infrastructure and reputation — along with an online survey of financial professionals.
The index is published twice a year, in March and September.
