한국의 대표 명절인 추석 연휴 동안 4대 궁을 비롯해 종묘, 조선왕릉이 무료 개방된다. The four royal palaces of Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung and Deoksugung, Jongmyo Shrine and Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty will offer free admission during the Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) holidays.
올해 추석 연휴는 추석 전 주말을 포함해 14일부터 18일까지 닷새 간. 이 기간 동안 경복궁, 창경궁, 창덕궁(후원 제외), 덕수궁을 입장료 없이 방문할 수 있다. 종묘의 경우 평소 예약제로 운영되지만 이번 추석 연휴 기간 동안에는 자유롭게 관람할 수 있다.
The period from Sept. 14-18 includes the weekend before Chuseok Day. Over the five days, visitors can enter the palaces for free except Changdeokgung’s Secret Garden. Jongmyo Shrine, which usually requires a reservation, will not require one during Chuseok.
단, 무료 개방 기간 다음날인 19일(목)에는 문을 닫는다. The palaces, shrine and tombs on Sept. 19 will be closed at the end of the holiday period.
경복궁에서는 궁궐의 문을 지키는 수문장과 수문군들의 근무 교대를 재현하는 ‘수문장 교대의식’(하루 2회, 오전 10시, 오후 2시), 수문장과 군사들이 궁중과 도성 안팎을 순찰하는 모습을 선보이는 ‘수문장 순라의식’(오후 3시)을 즐길 수 있다.
The ceremony for changing of the guard protecting Gyeongbokbung’s gates will be held twice daily at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and that for gatekeepers and soldiers patrolling in and out of the palace and around the city starts at 3 p.m.
이밖에 궁중 병과와 약차를 체험할 수 있는 ‘경복궁 생과방’, 왕세자가 아버지인 국왕을 위해 직접 행사를 준비하고 주관했던 행사를 재현하는 ‘창경궁 야연’ 등 다채로운 행사가 열린다. 유료로 진행되고 사전예약이 필요한 경우도 있으므로 정보 확인이 필요하다.
Programs during Chuseok will include “Gyeongbokgung Saenggwabang,” in which visitors can sample royal confectionery and medicinal tea, and “Changdeokgung Yayeon,” a reenactment of an evening event that a crown prince would arrange and host for his father. Visitors are asked to check if an event requires a fee or reservation.
