한국이 미국, 프랑스, 일본 등 10개국이 공동으로 발표한 ‘6G 원칙 공동선언문(6G 원칙)’에 참여한다. The nation has taken part in the Joint Statement Endorsing Principles for 6G (6G principles) issued by 10 countries including the U.S., France and Japan.
과학기술정보통신부(과기정통부)와 외교부는 스페인 바르셀로나에서 개최중인 세계 최대 이동통신 전시회 ‘모바일 월드 콩그레스(MWC) 2024’에서 발표된 6G 원칙에 한국도 동참한다고 27일 밝혔다.
The Ministry of Science and ICT and Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Feb. 27 said Korea joined the declaration announced at this year’s Mobile World Congress, the world’s largest telecommunications trade show, in Barcelona, Spain.
미국, 한국, 호주, 캐나다, 체코, 핀란드, 프랑스, 일본, 스웨덴, 영국 정부는 지난해 7월부터 이번 공동선언문에 대해 논의해왔다. 10개국이 6G 무선 통신 시스템 연구·개발을 위한 원칙에 합의하고 상호 운용적이며 안전한 네트워크 연결을 지원하는 데 합의했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
The governments of the U.S., Korea, Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Japan, Sweden and U.K in July last year began discussing the declaration. The 10 countries agreed on the principles for research and development of 6G wireless communication systems and to support interoperable and secure network connectivity.
6G 원칙에는 안전하고 복원력 있는 기술로 국가 안보 보호 능력을 촉진하고, 통신에서 높은 보안 수준을 제공해야한다는 내용을 담고 있다. 또 지속가능성·상호운용성·개방성 및 보안을 촉진하는 글로벌 표준 확립 등도 포함돼 있다.
The 6G principles say secure and resilient technologies must promote the capacity to protect national security and provide high levels of communications security. They also urge devising global standards that promote sustainability, interoperability, compatibility, openness and security.
아울러 원활한 상호 운용을 위한 정해진 표준 사용, 디지털 격차 해소, 복원력 있는 공급망 구축을 통한 글로벌 시장 경쟁을 촉진하는 내용이 명시돼 있다. The declaration also specified using set standards for seamless interoperability, alleviating the digital divide and building resilient supply chains to promote global market competition.
이종호 과기정통부 장관은 “6G 원칙을 기반으로 한국이 6G 글로벌 표준을 주도할 수 있도록 지속 가능하고 개방적이며 보안성을 높인 6G 기술 연구·개발에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
Minister of Science and ICT Lee Jong Ho said, “Based on the 6G Principles, we will do our best to research and develop sustainable, open and secure 6G technologies so that Korea can lead global standards for 6G.”
조태열 외교부 장관은 “6G 통신 기술은 미래 디지털 산업의 핵심이자 기술 활용 잠재력이 높은 분야로 이러한 6G 기술 개발의 공동 원칙 수립에 우리가 참여했다는 데 큰 의미가 있다”며 “첨단 기술이 안보를 좌우하는 기술 안보 융합 시대에 국가경쟁력을 유지·강화할 수 있도록 앞으로도 핵심·신흥 기술 분야 규범 수립·발전에 있어 우리나라가 주도적 역할을 하도록 노력해 나갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.
“6G communication technology is the core of the future digital industry as a field with high potential for technological utilization, and our participation in the setting of joint principles for the development of such 6G technology is highly significant,” Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yul added.
“Our country will continue striving to play a leading role in the launch and development of norms in core and emerging technological sectors so that our country can maintain and enhance national competitiveness in the era of techno-security convergence, where cutting-edge technology determines security.”
