V/A+ 어서/아서/여서 V+ 으려고요/려고요.

It is used to talk about the speaker’s intention or purpose with his reason.

For ‘-어서/아서/여서’, if the stem of an action verb or a descriptive verb ends with ‘ㅏ, ㅗ’ you should use ‘-아서’ and if it ends with another vowel(ㅓ, ㅜ, ㅡ, ㅣ), you use ‘-어서’. If it ends with ‘하-‘, you should use ‘-여서(해서)’.

For ‘-으려고요/려고요’, if the stem of the action verb ends with a vowel or ‘ㄹ’, you should use ‘-려고요’, with another consonant, you use ‘-으려고요’.

가: 왜 냉장고 문을 열고 그냥 서 있어?
Why are you standing in front of the refrigerator door just standing?
나: 배고파서 뭐 좀 먹으려고요. 엄마, 그런데 먹을 게 없네요.
I’m hungry, so I’m going to eat something. Mom, but I don’t have anything to eat.

가: 공부하다가 어디 가는 거야?
Where are you going while you’re studying?
나: 교실은 시끄러워서 그냥 도서관에서 공부하려고.
The classroom is noisy, so I’m just going to study in the library.

가: 책들을 왜 싸는 거예요?
Why are you packing your books?
나: 다음 주에 이사를 하게 되어서 미리 정리 좀 하려고요.
I’m moving next week, so I’d like to clear it up in advance.

Conversation:

안녕하세요. 저 옆집에 살고 있는 사람이에요.
Hello, I’m your neighbor living next door.

네, 안녕하세요? 어쩐 일이세요?
Yeah, hello. What did you come for?

일주일 정도 집을 수리하게 되어서 미리 양해를 구하려고요.
I’d like to ask for your understanding in advance because my house will be in repair for a week.
