세계인의 축제로 자리잡은 국내 최대 규모 머드 축제의 막이 올랐다. The Boryeong Mud Festival, the country’s biggest event of its kind and popular among both Koreans and foreign visitors, has begun in Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do Province.
올해로 27회를 맞이한 충남 보령머드축제가 지난 19일 개막식을 시작으로 다음 달 4일까지 17일간 진행된다. 재미와 편의성을 모두 잡은 이번 축제는 머드 체험 프로그램부터 다채로운 문화공연과 부대 행사로 국내외 관광객을 맞이한다.
Marking its 27th edition, the annual fete through Aug. 4 welcomes visitors from in and out of the country with fun and convenience. Its diverse programs include interactive events featuring mud and cultural performances.
19일 열린 개막 공연 ‘케이팝 슈퍼 라이브’에는 D1, 비투비, 백호, 이채연, 이무진 등 K-팝 가수들이 무대에 올라 축제 분위기를 뜨겁게 달궜다. At the opening concert “K-pop Super Live” on July 19, acts like D1, BTOB, Baekho, Lee Chae-yeon and Lee Mu-jin performed to heat up the atmosphere.
폐막식이 열리는 오는 8월 4일에는 트롯챔피언 및 해상불꽃판타지 공연이 머드엑스포광장에서 펼쳐진다. 영탁, 손태진, 장민호, 김수찬 등 인기 트로트 스타들이 출동해 축제의 마지막 대미를 장식한다.
The closing ceremony on Aug. 4 will see performances by champions of the domestic singing style trot like and a marine fireworks fantasy display at Mud Expo Plaza. Trot stars Young Tak, Son Tae-jin, Jang Min-ho and Kim Soo-chan will also belt out tunes to mark the finale.
보령머드축제의 백미는 머드 체험 프로그램. 축제 기간 동안 대천해수욕장을 방문하는 관광객들은 머드탕, 머드 슬라이드, 머드 마사지 등을 통해 머드의 색다른 매력을 느낄 수 있다.
The highlight of the festival is interactive programs with Boryeong mud. Visitors to Daecheon Beach over the event period can directly experience the benefits of the matter through activities like mud sauna, slide and massage.
이밖에 머드흠뻑존을 신설해 머드밸리, 머드퐁듀 등 다양한 체험 콘텐츠를 도입했다. 축제장 곳곳에 소나무 쉼터를 조성하고 대형 차양시설을 설치해 체험객에게 휴식공간을 제공한다.
New to the event this year is a mud soaking zone featuring content like mud valley and fondue. Shelters with pine trees around the festival venue and large-size awning facilities will provide shade and rest to visitors.
보령시는 “올해 머드축제는 머드엑스포광장 내 체험존을 집중 배치해 일반존, 패밀리존, 워터파크존 등을 통합 구성해 체험객의 재미와 편의성을 최대한 살릴 계획”이라고 밝혔다.
Boryeong City said, “This year’s festival focuses on the interactive zone at the center of Mud Expo Plaza, plus integration of the regular, family and water park zones to maximize visitor fun and convenience.”
지난 1998년 처음 개최된 보령머드축제는 27년의 역사를 자랑하며 그동안 국내는 물론 한국을 방문한 외국인 관광객들에게도 큰 사랑을 받아왔다. Since its launch in 1998, the 27-year event is a hit among both domestic and international tourists.
