V+ 었다가/았다가/였다가
It is used to indicate a certain action has stopped and has changed into a different action. The action verbs used in the preceding and latter clauses have opposite meanings.

저는 새 구두를 신었다가 불편해서 벗었어요.
I put on the new shoes but took them off because they were not comfortable.

저는 버스를 탔다가 교통카드가 없어서 내렸어요.
I got on the bus but I got off because I didn’t have a transportation pass.

언니가 영화표를 예매했다가 취소했어요.
My elder sister booked movie tickets but she canceled them.
