In a first for K-pop, Rosé of the girl group BLACKPINK on Sept. 7 won Song of the Year for “APT.,” her hit with Bruno Mars, at the MTV Video Music Awards held at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.
블랙핑크 로제가 7일(현지 시간) 미국 뉴욕 UBS아레나에서 열린 ‘2025 MTV 비디오 뮤직 어워즈(VMA)’에서 ‘아파트’로 VMA 메인 부문 중 하나인 ‘올해의 노래’를 수상했다. 한국 가수가 VMA에서 주요 상을 받은 건 이번이 처음이다.
Donning a gold colored dress on stage, she expressed her gratitude to Mars in her acceptance speech, saying, “Thank you so much for believing in me and helping me build this world together.”
이날 금빛 드레스를 입고 무대에 오른 로제는 ‘아파트’를 함께 부른 브루노 마스를 언급하며 “날 믿어주고 도와준 브루노에게 감사하다”고 수상 소감을 밝혔다.
Rosé called her honor “a really big moment for 16-year-old me and anyone else who has dreamed of being accepted equally for their hard work,” adding, “I accept this award proudly because it has come with the hard work and discipline of my extremely hardworking team.”
이어 “이 트로피를 꿈을 좇았던 16살의 저에게 바친다”며 “그간의 노력을 보상받는 순간이기에 기쁘게 이 상을 받는다”고 덧붙였다.
Inspired by the Korean drinking game, “APT.” was released in October last year and stayed on Billboard’s main singles chart Hot 100 for 45 consecutive weeks.
한국 ‘술게임’에서 영감을 받아 만든 ‘아파트’는 지난해 10월 발매됐다. 빌보드 메인 싱글 차트 ‘핫 100’에서 무려 45주 연속 차트에 이름을 올렸다.
BLACKPINK also won Best Group, meaning Rosé took home two awards. Fellow BLACKPINK member Lisa won Best K-Pop for the song “Born Again” with U.S. singer Doja Cat and British singer-songwriter Raye.
Katseye, a K-pop girl group comprising members of several nationalities, won Push Performance of the Year for “Touch.”
블랙핑크가 ‘베스트 그룹’을 받으면서 로제는 2개의 트로피를 품에 안았다. 블랙핑크 동료인 리사는 도자 캣, 레이와 함께 부른 ‘본 어게인’으로 ‘베스트 K-팝’ 부문, 다국적 K-팝 걸그룹 캣츠아이는 ‘터치’로 ‘올해의 푸시 퍼포먼스’ 부문을 각각 수상했다.
