Grammar Focus:
These particles express the physical or temporal range over which an action or event occurs and correspond to ‘from… to…’ and ‘from… until…’ in English. When expressing physical locations, normally ‘Noun에서 Noun까지 is used, and when expressing a range of time, ‘Noun부터 Noun까지, is used. Sometimes, however, both expressions can be used with no distinction.

A: 여기에서 학교까지 멀어요? Is it far from here to school?
B: 네, 버스로 한 시간쯤 걸려요. Yes, it takes about one hour by bus.
A: 이 도서관은 토요일에 문을 엽니까? Is this library open on Saturdays?
B: 네, 토요일은 오전 10시부터 오후4시까지 엽니다.
