V+ 다가는 V/A+ 을지도/ㄹ지도 몰라요.

It is used to assume that as a result of the behavior in the preceding clause being repeated, a negative result will happen. Usually, you include improper content or advice in the latter part. ‘-다가는’ is attached to the stem of an action verb.

For ‘-을지도/ㄹ지도 몰라요’, if the stem of an action verb or a descriptive verb ends with a vowel or ‘ㄹ’, you use ‘-ㄹ지도 몰라요’, with another consonant, you use ‘-을지도 몰라요’.

밤에 핸드폰을 오래 보다가는 시력이 나빠질지도 몰라요.
If you watch your cell phone for a long time at night, your eyesight may get worse.

운전할 때 교통 규칙을 무시하고 과속을 하다가는 사고가 날지도 몰라요.
If you ignore traffic rules when you drive, you might get into an accident.

돈을 계획 없이 쓰다가는 필요할 때 돈이 부족할지도 몰라요.
If you spend your money unplanned, you may run out of it when you need it.

Conversation:

아! 시원해. 역시 여름에는 시원한 콜라가 최고야.
Ah! It’s cool. Cool Coke is the best in summer.

그렇긴 한데, 너무 자주 마시는 거 아니야? 오늘만 세 병째야.
That’s true but aren’t you drinking it too often? That’s your third bottle today.

안 마시면 목말라서 쓰러지겠는 걸 어떻게 해.
But what could I do when I feel like falling down because I’m too thirsty?

그래도 이렇게 탄산음료를 자주 마시다가는 이가 많이 상할지도 몰라.
But if you drink soda so often, your tooth might get hurt a lot.

하긴, 요즘 왼쪽 어금니가 계속 아픈데…. 콜라 때문일까?
