정부가 오는 13일부터 ‘디엠지(DMZ) 평화의 길’ 10개 테마노선을 개방한다. Ten new themed routes along the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) Peace Trail will be opened on May 13.
비무장지대 접경지역만의 생태·문화·역사자원을 통해 안보와 자유의 소중함을 직접 체험할 수 있는 기회다. 비무장지대 접경지역은 내외국이 방문하고 싶어 하는 대표적인 안보관광지다.
Their launch presents a unique opportunity to experience the ecological, cultural and historical significance of the DMZ as well as gain a deeper appreciation of the importance of national security and freedom. The area is a leading destination for national security tourism that attracts both domestic and international visitors.
이번에 개방하는 테마노선은 인천의 강화, 경기의 김포, 고양, 파주, 연천, 강원의 철원, 화천, 양구, 인제, 고성 등 비무장지대 접경 지자체별 특성을 살린 10개 코스다.
The 10 routes highlight the distinct characteristics of each municipality near the DMZ: Ganghwa-gun County in Incheon; the cities of Gimpo, Goyang and Paju and Yeoncheon-gun County in Gyeonggi-do Province; and the counties of Cheorwon-gun, Hwacheon-gun, Yanggu-gun, Inje-gun and Goseong-gun in Gangwon-do Province.
테마노선 코스는 참가자 안전과 비무장지대에 서식하는 각종 야생 동식물 보호를 위해 차량으로 이동한다. 주요 구간에서는 군부대의 협조를 받아 참가자가 직접 걷는 구간으로 운영한다. 참가자는 접경지역에만 있는 천혜의 관광자원을 보며, 마을 주민 등으로 구성된 해설사와 안내요원에게 해당 지역 안에 숨어 있는 다양하고 애틋한 이야기를 들을 수 있다.
To ensure visitor safety and preserve the area’s wildlife and nature, tours will primarily use vehicles. Key designated sections, however, will feature guided walks with military unit support to provide glimpses of the region’s unique natural beauty and share the sad and heartwarming stories hidden in the area of commentators who are village residents and guides.
참가 희망자는 ‘평화의 길’ 누리집(www.dmzwalk.com)과 걷기여행 모바일 응용프로그램(애플리케이션) ‘두루누비’로 사전 신청하면 된다.

박종택 문체부 관광정책국장은 “문체부는 앞으로도 비무장지대 접경지역을 한국에서만 볼 수 있는 세계적인 안보·생태체험 관광자원으로 육성하기 위해 관계부처, 접경 지자체와 적극 협력할 계획”이라며 “이번 테마노선 개방으로 비무장지대 접경지역의 안보관광이 활성화돼 인구감소, 개발 제한 등으로 침체된 지역경제가 회복되길 기대한다”고 말했다.
“Our ministry will actively collaborate with relevant ministries and local governments around the border to develop the DMZ into a world-class tourism resource in national security and ecological experience found only in Korea,” said Park Jong Taek, director-general of the ministry’s Tourism Policy Bureau.
“We anticipate that the launch of these themed routes will revitalize national security tourism in the DMZ area and stimulate the local economy, which has stagnated due to population decline and development restrictions.”
