Step into history at Buseoksa Temple (부석사) in Yeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do (경상북도 영주), one of Korea’s historic mountain temples recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage site “Sansa, Buddhist Mountain Monasteries in Korea (산사, 한국의 산지승원).”

Founded in 676 by Master Uisang (의상대사), the temple has preserved more than 1,300 years of Buddhist history.
* The autumn walk
A beautiful 800m ginkgo-lined road (은행나무길) leads toward the temple. After passing Iljumun Gate (일주문) and Cheonwangmun Gate (천왕문), visitors climb the famous 108 Steps (108계단) to reach Muryangsujeon Hall (무량수전).
At the top, Anyangnu Pavilion (안양루) offers a spectacular view of the surrounding Sobaeksan Mountain (소백산) ridges.
