무탄소에너지 이니셔티브 이행 및 확산 방안을 모색하는 장이 부산에서 열린다. An international forum in Busan this week will discuss the use and spread of a carbon-free energy initiative.
부산시는 오는 4일부터 6일까지 부산 해운대구 벡스코에서 ‘2024 기후산업국제박람회’를 개최한다고 1일 밝혔다. Busan Metropolitan City on Sept. 1 announced its hosting of the 2024 World Climate Industry Expo (WCE) from Sept. 4-6 at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center, or BEXCO, in the city’s Haeundae-gu District.
올해 2회 째를 맞은 이번 행사는 ‘기후 기술로 열어가는 무탄소에너지 시대’를 주제로 부산시와 산업통상자원부 등 정부‧민간 13개 기관과 국제에너지기구(IEA)가 공동 주최한다.
Under the theme “Ushering in a Carbon-Free Energy (CFE) Era with Climate Technology,” the second WCE will be jointly hosted by 13 public and private institutions including the city government, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and International Energy Agency (IEA).
박람회는 기후·에너지 분야 11개 컨퍼런스, 537개 기업 전시, 55개의 부대행사로 구성된다. 한-IEA 공동포럼, 에너지 인공지능 포럼 등의 컨퍼런스와 함께 전시관은 무탄소에너지, 미래모빌리티, 환경, 해양, 기상 등을 주제로 마련될 예정이다.
The 11 scheduled conferences on climate and energy will include the Korea-IEA Forum and Energy AI Forum, 537 corporate exhibitions on topics like carbon-free energy, future mobility, the environment, oceans and climate, and 55 sideline events.
또 30개 주한 대사관 인사와 24개 국가 대표단, 10개 국제기구 대표, 전문가 등이 참석해 지속 가능한 청정에너지로의 조속한 전환을 위한 방안을 중점적으로 논의한다.
Officials from 30 embassies in Korea, delegations from 24 countries, representatives from 10 international organizations and experts will discuss a swift transition to clean and sustainable energy.
특히 한국과 IEA는 3일 오전 합동 기자회견을 열고 무탄소에너지 의의와 중요성을 강조하는 ‘한-IEA 무탄소에너지 공동 선언문’을 발표한다. 이어 4일 열리는 개막식은 파티 비롤 IEA 사무총장, 최태원 대한상공회의소 회장 등 1200명이 참석한 가운데 열린다.
Korea and the IEA on the morning of Sept. 3 will hold a joint news conference to announce a joint declaration on carbon-free energy, stressing the latter’s meaning and significance. The WCE’s opening ceremony on Sept. 4 will have some 1,200 attendees including IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol and Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Chairman Chey Tae-won.
박형준 부산시장은 “지난해 9월 한국이 유엔총회에서 처음 제안한 무탄소에너지 이니셔티브 이행·확산을 위한 국제적 논의의 장이 올해 부산에서 이뤄진다는 점이 매우 뜻깊다” 며 “이번 박람회를 통해 기후 위기에 대응하는 ‘글로벌 허브 도시 부산’을 전 세계에 알리는 계기가 될 것”이라고 말했다.
“Busan finds it very meaningful to host this international forum on the implementation and dissemination of a carbon-free energy initiative first proposed by Korea in September last year at the United Nations General Assembly,” Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon said. “The expo will be an opportunity to promote internationally Busan as a global hub for responding to the climate crisis.”
