제22회 피렌체 한국 영화제가 오는 3월 21일 막을 올린다. The 22nd Florence Korea Film Fest in Italy will kick off on March 21.
피렌체 한국 영화제는 지난 2002년 시작돼 20년 넘게 이탈리아에 한국 영화를 알려왔다. Since its launch in 2002, the festival has promoted Korean cinema in Italy for over 20 years.
올해 영화제에서는 30편의 장편 영화와 56편의 단편 영화가 이탈리아 관객과 만난다. This year’s edition will screen 30 feature-length and 56 short films.
개막작은 엄태화 감독의 ‘콘크리트 유토피아’ 다. 작품은 대지진으로 폐허가 된 서울에서 유일하게 남은 황궁 아파트로 생존자들이 모여들면서 벌어지는 이야기를 다뤘다. 이병헌, 박서준, 박보영 등이 출연했다.
The opening film is “Concrete Utopia” by director Um Tae-hwa, a post-apocalyptic thriller about survivors of a massive earthquake in Seoul who gather at Hwanggung (Imperial Palace) Apartment, the only building left standing in the capital. The cast includes Lee Byung-hun, Park Seo-joon and Park Bo-young.
개막작의 주연 배우에게는 회고전이 헌정된다. ‘콘크리트 유토피아’의 주연 배우인 이병헌의 작품 6편이 영화제 기간에 상영된다. 이병헌은 마스터클래스 주인공으로 초청돼 관객과 대화의 시간을 가질 예정이다.
A retrospective of the works of the movie’s lead actor Lee will also be held. Six of his films will be shown, and he will lead an invitational master class and hold a Q&A with the audience.
폐막작은 유재선 감독의 장편 데뷔작 ‘잠’이 선정됐다. 이 작품은 지난해 칸영화제 비평가 주간에 초청돼 화제를 모은 바 있다. “Sleep,” the debut work by director Jason Yu that was screened last year in the Critics’ Week section of the Cannes Film Festival, will be the closing film.
배우 송강호와 김지운 감독도 피렌체를 방문한다. 영화 ‘거미집’의 주연배우와 감독 자격으로 영화제를 찾아 마스터클래스를 연다. For the upcoming movie “Cobweb,” lead actor Song Kang-ho and director Kim Jee-woon will also hold a master class at the festival.
올해는 한국 영화의 르네상스였던 1960년대를 대표하는 고전영화 5편이 한국영상자료원의 지원으로 이탈리아 관객에게 최초로 선보인다. 유현목 감독의 ‘오발탄'(1961), 김수용 감독의 ‘안개'(1967), 김기덕 감독의 ‘남과 북'(1964), 이만희 감독의 ‘마의 계단'(1964), 신상옥 감독의 ‘사랑방 손님과 어머니'(1961)를 상영한다.
Five domestic film classics from the 1960s, a decade dubbed the “Renaissance of Korean cinema,” will make their debuts in Italy with support from the Korean Film Archive: “Aimless Bullet” (1961) by director Yu Hyun-mok; “Mist” (1967) by Kim Soo-yong; “The North and South” (1964) by Kim Kee-duk; “The Devil’s Stairway” (1964) by Lee Man-hee; and “Mother and a Guest” (1961) by Shin Sang-ok.
영화제 마지막 날에는 정재일 피아니스트와 피렌체 오케스트라가 협연을 펼치며 한국 영화 향연의 피날레를 장식한다. Pianist Jung Jae-il and the Florentine Chamber Orchestra will hold a joint concert on the last day as the festival’s finale.
제22회 피렌체 한국 영화제는 오는 3월 30일까지 이탈리아 피렌체 라 꼼빠니아 극장에서 열린다. This year’s Florence Korea Film Fest will run through March 30 at Cinema the Company (Cinema la Compagnia) in Florence.
