한국과 중앙아시아 5개국이 참여하는 첫 다자 정상회의가 16일 서울에서 열린다. The country’s first multilateral summit with five Central Asian countries is slated for Sept. 16 in Seoul.
강유정 청와대 수석대변인은 11일 서면 브리핑에서 이재명 대통령이 ‘한-중앙아 협력 방향 및 혁신·번영·연계성 강화를 위한 파트너십’을 주제로 제1차 한-중앙아시아 정상회의를 주재한다고 밝혔다.
In a written briefing, presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung on Sept. 11 said President Lee Jae Myung will chair the inaugural Korea-Central Asia Summit under the theme “Directions for Korea-Central Asia Cooperation and a Partnership for Stronger Innovation, Prosperity and Connectivity.”
이번 회의는 한국 정부가 중앙아시아 지역 국가들과 개최하는 최초의 다자 정상회의다. 정부는 2007년 ‘한-중앙아시아 협력포럼’ 출범 이후 장관급에서 이어온 협력체계를 정상급으로 격상하고, ‘서울선언’을 통해 중장기 협력 비전을 제시해 지속 가능한 다자 협력체계를 구축할 계획이다.
Seoul seeks to upgrade the cooperative framework, which has been at the ministerial level since the 2007 launch of the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum, to the summit level. It will also present a mid- to long-term vision for cooperation through the Seoul Declaration to set a sustainable system of multilateral cooperation.
청와대는 불확실한 국제 정세 속에서 전략적 중요성이 커지는 중앙아시아로 한국 외교의 지평을 넓히는 출발점이 될 것으로 기대했다.
Cheong Wa Dae said it hoped the summit would serve as a starting point for expanding the horizons of the country’s diplomacy to Central Asia, whose strategic importance is rising amid the uncertainty of the global landscape.
정부는 중앙아시아의 풍부한 핵심광물·에너지 자원과 한국의 탐사·가공 기술을 연계해 글로벌 공급망을 다변화하고, 통관·규제·지식재산권 협력과 인프라·플랜트 분야의 국가별 맞춤형 협력을 통해 한국 기업의 현지 진출과 수주 기회를 확대할 방침이다.
The plan is to diversify global supply chains through linking Central Asia’s abundant critical minerals and energy resources with Korea’s exploration and processing know-how. Other goals include expanding opportunities for Korean companies to enter Central Asian markets and land contracts through cooperation in customs clearance, regulations and intellectual property rights, as well as country-specific collaboration in infrastructure and plants.
정상회의에 이어 이 대통령과 5개국 정상은 ‘한-중앙아시아 비즈니스 서밋’에 참석한다. 양 지역 경제인 간 네트워크 구축과 분야별 실질 협력 심화를 위한 행사로, 각국 정부와 기업 관계자 500여 명이 참석할 예정이다.
After the summit, President Lee and the leaders of the five countries will take part in the Korea-Central Asia Business Summit, whose goal is to promote networking among business executives from both sides and raise practical cooperation across sectors. About 500 government and business representatives from each country are expected to attend.
이 대통령은 정상회의에 앞서 14일부터 16일까지 5개국 정상과 차례로 양자 정상회담을 갖는다. 우즈베키스탄·투르크메니스탄·카자흐스탄 3개국 정상은 국빈 방한하며, 타지키스탄·키르기스스탄 2개국 정상은 공식 방한한다.
Before the summit, President Lee from Sept. 14-16 will hold bilateral summits with each of the five leaders. The presidents of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan will make state visits to Korea while those of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan will be on official trips.
첫 일정은 14일 샤브카트 미르지요예프 우즈베키스탄 대통령과의 정상회담이다. 양 정상은 양국 간 협력 지평을 확대하는 방안을 논의하고, 정상 임석 아래 정부 부처 간 협정 및 양해각서(MOU) 13건의 교환식도 진행할 예정이다.
President Lee’s first talks on Sept. 14 were with Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev on expanding bilateral cooperation. This was followed by a ceremony to exchange 13 intergovernmental agreements and memorandums of understanding in the presence of the two leaders.
