윤석열 대통령이 3일 한국과 필리핀 수교 75주년을 맞아 페르디난도 로무알데즈 마르코스 주니어 필리핀 대통령과 축하 서한을 교환했다고 외교부가 같은날 밝혔다.
President Yoon Suk Yeol on March 3 exchanged congratulatory letters with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to mark the 75th anniversary of bilateral relations, the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
윤 대통령은 서한을 통해 마르코스 대통령과 필리핀 국민들에게 축하 인사를 전하고 “한국과 필리핀은 자유와 민주주의를 위해 함께 싸운 단단하고 뿌리 깊은 역사를 갖고 있다”고 강조했다.
In the letter, President Yoon thanked President Marcos and the Philippine people, saying, “Korea and the Philippines have a solid and deep-rooted history of fighting together for freedom and democracy.”
이어 “지난 75년간 교역, 인적교류, 개발협력 등 전방위적으로 발전해온 양국 관계가 향후 ‘전략적 동반자 관계’ 격상을 통해 한층 더 도약하길 희망한다”며 “양국 경제협력의 중요한 이정표인 한-필리핀 자유무역협정(FTA)이 연내 발효돼 양국 교역과 투자가 획기적으로 확대되길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
“This will provide further opportunities to advance bilateral relations that have developed for the past 75 years in all areas including trade, people-to-people exchanges and development cooperation,” President Yoon added. “We hope that the Korea-Philippines free trade agreement, an important milestone in bilateral economic cooperation, takes effect within this year to boost trade and investment between the two countries in a groundbreaking manner.”
마르코스 대통령은 “양국 관계가 1949년 수교 이후 비약적으로 발전해왔다”고 평가하면서 “6.25 전쟁 당시 자유와 민주주의를 위한 연대를 시작으로 다양한 분야에서 발전해 온 양국 관계가 미래지향적으로 발전해 나가길 바란다”고 전했다.
President Marcos described bilateral ties as growing by leaps and bounds since their inception in 1949, saying he hoped that such relations, which began with solidarity in the fight for freedom and democracy during the Korean War and developed in a range of fields, will continue advancing in a future-oriented manner.
마르코스 대통령은 “FTA 파트너를 맺은 한-필리핀 양국이 ‘전략적 동반자 관계’를 추진해 디지털, 과학기술, 해양, 기후변화, 에너지를 망라한 미래지향적인 협력의 발판이 마련되기를 기대한다”고 덧붙였다.
He added that he hopes that both free trade partners pursue forming a strategic partnership to pave the way for future-oriented collaboration covering the digital, science and technology, maritime, climate change and energy sectors.
한편, 이날 양국 수교 75주년을 기념해 공군 특수비행팀 블랙이글스가 필리핀 공군과 우정 비행을 펼쳤다. In another event to mark the 75th anniversary of relations, the Republic of Korea Air Force’s aerobatics flight team Black Eagles held an air show in the Philippines and a “friendship flight” with the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
이번 비행에는 한국 공군의 블랙이글스 T-50B 8대와 필리핀 공군의 FA-50PH 4대가 참가해 필리핀 에어쇼가 열리고 있는 클라크 국제공항 상공을 나란히 날았다. At the three-day event, eight T-50B jets of the Black Eagles and four FA-50PHs of PAF developed by Korea Aerospace Industries flew side by side over Clark International Airport in the province of Pampanga.
