‘2024 부산비엔날레’가 17일 공식 개막해 65일간의 대장정에 들어갔다. The Busan Biennale 2024 kicked off its 65-day schedule on Aug. 17.
‘어둠에서 보기(Seeing in the Dark)’를 주제로 한 2024 부산비엔날레는 오는 10월20일까지 부산현대미술관, 부산근현대역사관, 한성1918, 초량재 등 총 4곳에서 펼쳐진다.
Under the theme “Seeing in the Dark,” this year’s festival will be held until Oct. 20 around four selected venues – the Busan Museum of Contemporary Art, Busan Modern & Contemporary History Museum, Hansung 1918 Busan Lifestyle Culture Center and Choryang House.
이번 부산비엔날레엔 베라 메이(Vera Mey)와 필립 피로트(Philippe Pirotte)가 공동 전시 감독을 맡았다. 36개국 62개팀 작가 78명이 참여했다. 올해는 팔레스타인, 이란, 세네갈, 자메이카, 코트디부아르, 토고 등 평소 접하기 어려웠던 지역 작가들의 작품이 다수 출품됐다.
For this year’s edition, Vera Mey and Philippe Pirotte worked together as co-artistic directors with 78 artists in 62 teams from 36 countries. The festival will showcase many works from artists from countries that are difficult to access such as Palestine, Iran, Senegal, Jamaica, Ivory Coast and Togo.
부산비엔날레는 지난 1981년 부산청년비엔날레로 시작해 2년마다 열리고 있다. 2022년 부산비엔날레는 안정된 전시 운영과 기획력으로 영국의 미술 전문지 ‘프리즈’에서 세계 10대 전시로 소개된 바 있다.
Since its launch in 1981 as the Busan Youth Biennale, the festival has been held every two years. The U.K.-based art magazine “Frieze” introduced the 2022 edition as one of the top 10 art exhibitions in the world thanks to its stable management and planning capabilities.
올해 비엔날레는 ‘대한민국 미술축제(9.1~11)’를 공동 타이틀로 ‘광주비엔날레’ 와 ‘서울아트위크’ 등과 연계해 운영된다. 부산과 광주비엔날레 통합입장권을 정가 대비 30% 할인된 금액으로 구매할 수 있다. 부산비엔날레와 한국철도공사(코레일) 결합상품을 이용하면 입장권 30% 할인과 5~40%의 시간대별 승차권 할인 혜택을 받을 수 있다.
This year’s festival will be run under the co-title “Korea Art Festival” scheduled from Sept. 1 to November in line with Gwangju Biennale and Seoul Art Week. Visitors can get a 30% discount for admission to the biennale and up to a 40% discount for train tickets if they use special packages combined with the biennale and Korail.
