The country’s small modular reactors (SMRs) under development have received high marks for global competitiveness in an evaluation by the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
한국이 개발 중인 소형모듈원자로(SMR)가 경제협력개발기구(OECD) 산하 원자력기구(NEA) 평가에서 높은 순위를 차지하며 글로벌 경쟁력을 입증했다.
Rep. Hwang Jung-a of the Democratic Party of Korea, quoting data in a report released last month from the National Assembly Research Service, on Sept. 8 said the nation’s innovative SMRs ranked 10th among all SMR types and the small reactor SMART 100 13th.
8일 더불어민주당 황정아 의원이 국회입법조사처로부터 받은 자료에 따르면 NEA가 지난달 발행한 보고서에서 한국의 혁신형 소형모듈원자로(i-SMR)를 전체 SMR 노형 중 10위, 한국형 소형원자로 ‘스마트100’은 13위로 각각 평가했다.
The NEA regularly rates the progress of SMR technologies under development worldwide. Its latest report measured 74 reactor types in 18 countries.
NEA는 전 세계에서 개발 중인 SMR 기술의 진전 상황을 평가한 보고서를 발간하고 있다. 이번에는 18개국이 개발 중인 74개 노형을 평가했다.
President Lee Jae Myung on Aug. 25 right after his summit in Washington said, “We will focus on meeting electricity demand in the artificial intelligence era by developing and commercializing SMRs, while reinforcing energy security.”
앞서 이재명 대통령은 지난달 25일 한미 정상회담 직후 “SMR 개발 및 상용화로 인공지능(AI) 시대의 전력 수요를 충당하고 에너지 안보를 확충하는 일에 집중하겠다”고 밝힌 바 있다.
