지난해 국립중앙박물관을 찾은 관람객 수가 전 세계 박물관과 미술관 가운데 6번째로 많았다. The National Museum of Korea in Seoul last year ranked sixth worldwide in the number of visitors for a museum or art gallery.
영국의 미술 매체 ‘아트뉴스페이퍼’는 지난해 국립중앙박물관의 관람객 수가 418만285명이었다고 7일 보도했다. 조사에 참여한 박물관, 미술관 가운데 6위에 해당한다. The monthly Art Newspaper of the U.K. on April 7 said the museum attracted 4,180,285 visitors last year, sixth in the world.
국립중앙박물관에 관람객 수가 400만 명을 넘은 것은 작년이 처음으로, 역대 최다 관람객 수다. The figure, a record high for the museum, exceeded four million for the first time in the facility’s history.
지난해 세계에서 가장 많은 관람객이 방문한 프랑스 루부르 박물관은 886만 명을 기록했다. 이어 바티칸 박물관(676만4천858명), 영국박물관(582만860명), 메트로폴리탄 미술관(536만4천명), 테이트 모던(474만2천38명)이 2∼5위를 차지했다.
Tops on the list was the Louvre Museum in Paris with 8,860,000 visitors, followed by the Vatican Museums (6,764,858) in Vatican City, British Museum (5,820,860) in London, Metropolitan Museum of Art (5,364,000) in New York and Tate Modern (4,742,038) in London.
6위에 오른 국립중앙박물관의 관람객 수는 아시아에서 1위다. 아시아의 박물관, 미술관 가운데선 홍콩 엠플러스 미술관 관람객 수가 279만7616명을 기록해 전 세계 15위, 일본의 도쿄 국립신미술관은 225만758명으로 21위에 이름을 올렸다. 국립현대미술관 서울관은 202만1771명으로 아시아 4위, 세계 26위를 차지했다.
Though sixth worldwide, the museum in Seoul was the most visited facility of its kind in Asia. Second on the continent last year was the art gallery M+ (2,797,616) in Hong Kong, which ranked 15th in the world, followed by the National Art Center in Tokyo, Japan (2,250,758) at 21st. Fourth in Asia was the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea with 2,021,771, ranking 26th worldwide.
