인공지능(AI)이 만드는 일상의 혁신이 한자리에 모였다. An event in Seoul is showcasing the daily innovations of artificial intelligence (AI) at one place.
과학기술정보통신부(과기정통부)는 17일부터 19일까지 사흘간 서울 강남구 코엑스에서 최신 정보통신기술 제품과 서비스를 전시하는 2024 월드IT쇼(WIS 2024)를 개최한다고 밝혔다.
The Ministry of Science and ICT said it is hosting this year’s World IT Show (WIS) from April 17-19 at COEX Mall in Seoul’s Gangnam-gu District, displaying the latest items and services in information and communications technology (ICT).
월드IT쇼는 정보통신기술(ICT)의 최신 동향을 공유하고 다가올 미래상을 엿볼 수 있는 국내 최대 규모의 ICT 전시회다. 지난 2008년부터 16년 동안 매년 새로운 기술을 들고 시민을 찾아갔다.
As the nation’s largest exhibition of its kind, WIS shares the latest ICT trends and provides a glimpse into the sector’s future. Launched in 2008, the annual exhibition over the past 16 years has showcased the newest technologies.
‘AI가 만드는 일상의 혁신’을 주제로 한 이번 전시회엔 10개국 446개 국내외 기업과 기관이 참가했다. A combined 446 domestic and foreign companies and organizations from 10 countries are taking part in this year’s event, whose theme is “Innovation in Everyday Life, Created by AI.”
삼성전자, LG전자, SK텔레콤, KT, 기아자동차, LG CNS, 카카오 등 국내 대기업과 2024 세계가전전시회(CES 2024)에서 혁신상을 받은 주재넷, 리틀캣, 그래핀스퀘어, 앙트러리얼리티, 스키아 등 유망 디지털 기업이 전시관을 꾸몄다.
Domestic corporations such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK Telecom, KT, Kia Corp., LG CNS and Kakao have teamed up to form a digital exhibition square with smaller companies like JJnet, which won an Innovation Award at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show of the U.S., and other up-and-coming digital startups like Little Cat, Graphene Square, Entre Reality and Skia.
올해는 AI가 가져온 일상의 변화를 체감할 수 있는 다양한 전시물을 선보인다. 생성형 AI, AI 반도체 등 생활 속 다양한 분야에 깊숙이 들어온 AI가 그릴 미래상을 각 분야 주요 기업인이 강연하는 학술회의도 마련했다.
This year’s exhibition shows items reflecting changes in daily life brought about by AI. An academic conference will feature seminars by entrepreneurs in each field on the future built by AI given its more penetrating role in society through fields like generative AI and AI semiconductors.
과기정통부는 전시회에 참석한 주한 외교관들에게 한국이 추진하는 디지털 정책을 소개한 뒤 한국의 혁신적인 제품과 서비스를 체험하는 기회를 제공했다.
For foreign diplomats attending the exhibition, the ministry explained the nation’s digital policy and provided interactive experiences on Korea’s innovative AI goods and services.
이날 개막식 앞서 디지털 혁신 융합기술을 선정하는 임팩테크(ImpaCT-ech) 대상과 유망 스타트업에게 수여하는 월드IT쇼 혁신상 시상식이 열렸다.
Before the opening ceremony, the ImpaCT-ech Grand Prize for a digital innovation convergence technology and the WIS Innovation Awards for promising start-ups were given.
이 자리에서 AI 등으로 수요가 급증하는 세계 최초 12㎚급 32Gb DDR5 D램을 개발한 삼성전자가 대통령상을 받았다. AI 기반의 로봇 자원 선별 및 재생 원료 생산 기술을 개발한 에이트테크를 비롯한 6개 기업이 과기정통부 장관상을 각각 수상했다.
Samsung Electronics won the President’s Award for developing the world’s first 12nm-class 32Gb DDR5 DRAM, whose demand is surging due to AI. Six companies like EightTech that advanced technologies for AI-based robot resource selection and production of renewable raw materials received honors from the ministry.
이종호 과기정통부 장관은 ” 다음 달 서울에서 AI 정상회의를 개최해 각국의 정상들과 함께 AI의 안전한 활용과 발전을 위한 논의를 하겠다” 며 “AI 강국이자 모범국가로 도약을 위한 정책적 지원을 지속적으로 추진하겠다”고 말했다.
“We will host the AI Summit Seoul next month and a discussion with world leaders on the safe use and development of AI,” Minister of Science and ICT Lee Jong Ho said. “We will keep providing policy support to take a massive leap as an AI power and model country in the sector.”
