생후 6개월 된 쌍둥이 판다 루이바오와 후이바오가 4일부터 일반에 공개된다. The first twin giant pandas born in Korea, Rui Bao and Hui Bao, on Jan. 4 began their public debut six months after their birth.
에버랜드 운영사인 삼성물산 리조트부문은 2024년 새해를 맞아 작년 7월 태어난 쌍둥이 판다들이 판다월드에서 본격적인 바깥 나들이를 시작한다고 3일 밝혔다.
Samsung C&T Resort Group, which runs the theme park and zoo Everland in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do Province, on Jan. 3 said both cubs, which were born in July last year, will start spending time outside to mark the arrival of the new year.
루이바오와 후이바오는 2016년 3월 한국으로 온 자이언트 판다 아이바오(2013년생)와 러바오(2012년생) 사이에서 태어난 푸바오(2020년생)의 동생이다.
The twins’ mother Ai Bao was born in 2013 and the father Le Bao in 2012; both parents were sent to Korea in March 2016. The cubs’ older sister Fu Bao was born in 2020.
그동안 루이바오와 후이바오는 판다월드 내실에서 비공개로 생활해 에버랜드 사회관계망서비스(SNS)와 유튜브 채널 등을 통해서만 만나볼 수 있었다.
Since their birth, the twins have not been publicly seen and stayed inside the zoo’s Panda World. Photos and videos of their growth were shared only through the social media and YouTube accounts of Everland.
강철원 사육사는 “태어날 당시 각각 180g, 140g에 불과했던 아기들의 체중이 현재 모두 11kg을 돌파하고 최근부터는 엄마를 따라서 잘 걸어 다닐 정도로 건강하게 성장해 방사장 나들이를 시작한다”고 말했다.
Zookeeper Kang Cher-won said, “One of the twin cubs weighed merely 180 g and the other 140 g when they were born, but they now weigh more than 11 kgs each and are healthy enough to crawl after their mother. So we decided to begin public viewings of them.”
쌍둥이 판다는 당분간 엄마 아이바오와 함께 매일 오전 일부 시간에만 공개된다. Visitors can see the twins and their mother at select times every morning for the time being.
에버랜드는 향후 쌍둥이 판다의 적응 상황과 컨디션 등을 고려해 엄마 아이바오와 아빠 러바오, 푸바오까지 다섯 판다 가족을 동시에 모두 만날 수 있는 특별한 시간도 마련할 계획이다.
Considering the cubs’ overall adaptation to life and their conditions, Everland plans to arrange an event in which all five members of the panda family, including their parents, can meet the public.
