한국과 중국, 일본이 참여하는 문화교류 행사인 ‘동아시아문화도시’가 경남 김해시에서 열린다. 김해시는 ‘2024 동아시아문화도시’를 오는 19일부터 24일까지 경남 김해 수로왕릉 일대에서 개최한다고 밝혔다.
The opening ceremony for this year’s Cultural City of East Asia is slated for April 22 at Maru Hall of Gimhae Art & Sports Center in Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, the host city’s government said on April 9.
한국, 중국, 일본은 매년 각 나라의 문화적 전통을 대표하는 도시를 ‘동아시아문화도시’로 선정해 각 나라의 전통춤과 인형극, 대표 음식 등을 공유하며 서로의 문화와 예술을 알아가는 문화교류 행사를 개최하고 있다.
Korea, China and Japan have hosted the annual festival of cultural exchange by selecting cities in the three countries as East Asian cultural cities to represent each nation’s cultural traditions and hold related events year-round.
올해는 김해시를 비롯해 중국 웨이팡시와 다롄시, 일본 이시카와현 등 3개국 4개 도시가 동아시아문화도시로 선정됐다. 하지만 이시카와현이 올해 초 발생한 지진으로 사업 중단을 선언함에 따라 일본 내 과거 문화도시 중 한 도시와 교류를 이어가게 된다.
For this year’s event, Gimhae in Korea, Weifang and Dalian in China, and Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan were picked as host cities. Ishikawa, however, dropped out after an earthquake that hit the region early this year, leading to the selection of another traditional Japanese city.
개막식은 오는 22일 김해문화의전당 마루홀에서 최선희 가야무용단의 버꾸춤과 중국 전통 그림자 인형극, 일본 전통춤으로 화려한 막을 연다. 이어 금난새 뉴월드오케스트라 연주와 김해시립합창단, 원밀리언 댄스팀, 가수 은가은, 백지영의 공연을 선보이며 시민을 맞이한다.
The opening ceremony on April 22 will begin with beokkuchum (drum dance) performances by Choi Seon-hee’s Gaya Dance Company, followed by a traditional shadow puppet show from China and a traditional Japanese dance. The New World Philharmonic Orchestra led by conductor Gum Nanse, Gimhae City Choir, 1 Million Dance Studio, and singers Eun Ga-eun and Baek Ji-young will also perform.
개막식에는 시민 누구나 무료로 참여할 수 있다. 11일 오전 10시부터 ‘2024 동아시아문화도시’ 공식 누리집(https://www.gimhae.go.kr/cceagh.web)에서 사전 예매가 가능하다. 공연장에 입장하지 못하는 시민을 위해 문화의전당 애두름 마당에 야외스크린을 설치해 공연을 실시간으로 중계한다.
The ceremony is open to everyone and admission is free. Reservations can be made from April 11 at 10 a.m. on the event’s official website (www.gimhae.go.kr/cceagh.web). For those unable to enter the performance hall, an outdoor screen at the center’s Aedureum Madang will air it live.
개막식 사전 부대행사도 풍성하게 마련했다. 19~21일 수로왕릉 일원에서 야간개장을 비롯한 다양한 예술과 음악 공연 행사, 예술시장을 개최한다. 특히 한중일 3개국의 돼지고기를 주제로 한 ‘돈(豚)아시아’ 행사에서는 김해의 대표 돼지고기인 뒷고기를 시식할 수 있다.
Ahead of the ceremony, events will be held like concerts and an art market from April 19-21 around the Tomb of King Suro, which will also be opened at night. For example, the event “Don (pork) Asia” will allow visitors to sample pork dishes of the three countries, including the Gimhae specialty dwitgogi.
홍태용 김해시장은 “올해는 동아시아문화도시를 시작으로 김해방문의 해 등 굵직굵직한 행사가 이어지며 김해시의 브랜드가 한 단계 올라가는 매우 중요한 한 해가 될 것”이라며 “축제의 주인공은 다름 아닌 시민들인 만큼 무엇보다 시민이 행복한 한 해가 되도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
“Starting with bold events like East Asia Cultural City and Visit Gimhae Year, this year will be extremely important for upgrading Gimhae’s cultural brand a notch,” Gimhae Mayor Hong Tae-yong said. “Since the protagonist of the festival is none other than the people, we will do our best to make this a happy year for them.”
