한국과 동남아시아국가연합(아세안·ASEAN)이 디지털 전환 및 청정경제 등 미래 산업 분야에서 협력을 확대하기로 했다. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has agreed with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to expand bilateral cooperation in future industries such as digital transformation and clean economy.
정인교 산업통상자원부(산업부) 통상교섭본부장이 28일 서울 이비스호텔에서 까으 끔 후은 아세안 사무총장을 만나 지난해 9월 한-아세안 정상회의에서 논의된 교역투자, 공급망, 개발협력 등의 성과 확산을 본격적으로 추진하기로 합의했다고 산업부가 밝혔다.
The ministry on May 28 said Minister for Trade Cheong Inkyo and ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn held talks at a Seoul hotel, where they agreed to spread the results of trade, investment, supply chains and developmental cooperation discussed at the Korea-ASEAN Summit in September last year.
정 본부장은 “아세안은 한국의 2위 교역대상이자 직접투자 지역으로서 매우 중요한 협력 파트너” 라고 강조하면서 제23차 한-아세안 정상회의 계기 윤석열 대통령이 발표한 ‘인도-태평양 전략’ 및 ‘한-아세안 연대구상’을 기반으로 경제 협력이 한층 더 활발해지고 있다고 평가했다.
Minister Chung said “As Korea’s No. 2 targeted region for trade and direct investment, ASEAN is a crucial cooperative partner.” Growing activity in economic cooperation is thanks to the Indo-Pacific Strategy and Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative (KASI) announced by President Yoon Suk Yeol to mark the 2022 Korea-ASEAN Summit, he added.
이어 “올해 대화관계 35주년을 계기로 ‘포괄적 전략적 동반자’로 외교관계 격상, ‘한-아세안 FTA’ 개선 등 경제, 사회, 문화를 아우르는 포괄적 협력이 더욱 고도화되기를 기대한다”고 말했다.
Minister Chung said, “With this year marking the 35th anniversary of bilateral dialogue relations, we hope for further advancement of comprehensive cooperation in economy, society and culture like upgrading official ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership and improving the Korea-ASEAN FTA (free trade agreement).”
이날 양측은 전기안전 인프라 구축, 표준협력 네트워크 구축 등 현재 진행 중인 한-아세안 협력사업들이 조만간 실질적인 성과로 이어질 수 있도록 지속적이고 집중적으로 노력하자는 데 뜻을 같이했다.
In the talks, the two sides agreed to make intensive and continued efforts to produce tangible results in joint projects like installation of electrical safety infrastructure and standard cooperative networks.
정 본부장은 디지털 전환, 청정경제 등 신통상 이슈에서도 함께 협력해 나가자고 제안하면서 한국이 추진 중인 ‘무탄소에너지(CFE) 이니셔티브’와 내년 한국에서 개최 예정인 ‘2025 아시아태평양경제협력체(APEC) 정상회의’에 아세안의 적극적인 관심과 지지를 요청했다.
Minister Chung proposed bilateral cooperation in emerging trade issues such as digital transformation and the clean economy. He also urged the region’s active interest and support for the the Carbon Free Energy Initiative and next year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Korea.
까으 사무총장은 “한국 정부가 ‘한-아세안 연대구상’을 통해 한국의 강점과 아세안의 산업 수요를 조화시킨 구체적 협력 방안을 제시한 것을 환영한다”며 “한국과의 경제협력 확대를 위해 적극 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
Secretary-General Kao welcomed Seoul’s proposal of a concrete cooperation plan through KASI on combining Korea’s strengths with ASEAN’s industrial demand, pledging efforts to expand economic cooperation between both sides.
