문화체육관광부(문체부)가 지난 13일 발표한 ‘2023년 한국 관광의 별’에 경북 경주시 대릉원 및 동궁과 월지, 경북 포항시 스페이스워크 등이 선정됐다.
This year’s “Korean Tourism Stars” announced on Dec. 13 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism include sites in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province like Daereungwon Tomb Complex, Donggung Palace, and Wolji Pond in Gyeongju and the Steel Path Space Walk in Pohang.
올해로 13회를 맞이한 ‘한국 관광의 별’은 국민, 지자체, 전문가 등이 추천한 부문별 후보지 중 한 해 동안 관광 발전에 기여한 관광자원, 단체나 인물 등을 선정해 시상하는 제도다.
Marking its 13th year, the awards select and honor tourism resources, organizations and individuals among candidates recommended by people, local governments and experts that contribute to domestic tourism development in a given year.
부문별로는 ‘올해의 관광지’에 경북 경주시 대릉원 및 동궁과 월지가 선정됐다. 하루 평균 4만여 명의 여행객이 찾는 대릉원은 30기의 능이 솟아 있는 대형 고분군으로 신라 천년 역사를 대표하는 장소다. 대릉원에서 도보 10분 거리에 위치한 동궁과 월지는 신라 왕궁의 별궁터로 경주시의 대표 야경 명소로 주목받고 있다.
By category, Daereungwon, Donggung, and Wolji were collectively selected as the year’s top tourism sites. About 40,000 people daily visit the massive complex of 30 tombs given its status as an iconic remnant from the Silla Kingdom, which boasts a millennium of history. The palace and the pond, just a 10-minute walk from the complex, are part of a site of a detached Silla royal palace and the best spot for a night view of Gyeongju.
2021년 11월 준공된 경북 포항시 스페이스워크는 ‘신규 관광지’로 뽑혔다. 롤러코스터를 닮은 체험형 철제 트랙인 스페이스워크는 영일만 해안의 절경부터 포스코의 야경까지 360도 파노라마 절경을 감상할 수 있다. 철강 도시 포항시의 지역성을 살리고 철과 바다의 빛이 공존하는 새로운 매력을 선보인 점이 높은 평가를 받았다.
Built-in November 2021, Space Walk in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, was the top new tourism spot in the country. Shaped like a rollercoaster, this steel walking trail offers a 360-degree panoramic view ranging from a spectacular vista of Yeongilman Bay to that of the nation’s top steelmaker POSCO.
‘관광발전 기여자’에는 ‘2023~2024 한국방문의 해’ 홍보대사로 활동하고 있는 배우 이정재가 선정됐다. 이정재는 지난 6월 공개된 ‘케이(K)-관광 챌린지 코리아 영상’에 출연해 누적 조회수 5억 3000만회를 기록하면서 한국 관광을 세계 곳곳에 알리는 데 크게 기여한 바 있다.
Actor Lee Jung-Jae, who plays the protagonist in the smash Netflix series “Squid Game” and serves as a promotional ambassador of the tourism campaign Visit Korea Year 2023-24, was named this year’s No. 1 “contributor to tourism development.” He stars in promotional videos of domestic tourism released in June that have racked up a cumulative 530 million views, greatly boosting the promotion of tourism in Korea around the world.
이밖에 ‘무장애 관광지’에는 강원 평창군 발왕산 천년주목숲길, ‘지속 가능 관광프로그램’으로는 임실 치즈테마파크가 이름을 올렸다. ‘올해의 관광 기관·사업체’는 강진 문화관광재단, ‘관광브랜드·마케팅’은 ‘플레이, 워크, 리브, 부산’(Play, Work, Live, Busan), ‘방송미디어’ 부문에는 다큐멘터리 프로그램인 ‘동네 한 바퀴’가 각각 선정됐다.
The award for top barrier-free tourism site went to Balwangsan Mountain’s Thousand-Year Spreading Yew Forest Path in Pyeongchang-gun County, Gangwon-do Province, and Imsil Cheese Theme Park in Imsil-gun County, Jeollakbuk-do Province, was named the year’s best sustainable tourism program.
Other winners included Gangjin Culture and Tourism Foundation for best tourism organization or business; the campaign “Play, Work, Live, Busan” for best tourism brand marketing; and the KBS documentary program “A Walk Around the Neighborhood” for best broadcast media.
장미란 문체부 제2차관은 “지역 주민과 여러 관계자의 헌신으로 가꾼 지역 관광지와 프로그램을 통해 지방관광시대를 열고, 더욱 많은 세계인을 불러 모을 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
Second Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Jang Miran said, “We will open a regional tourism era through well-kept regional tourism sites and programs developed through the dedication of provincial residents and various stakeholders and strive to attract more visitors from around the globe.”
