10 additional subway lines are planned to be built in Seoul. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced on June 29 that they would build a city railway that consists of 10 lines and 89.2km in length, gradually over the next 10 years. It is expected that transportation within Seoul will become more convenient and free through the 10 additional lines in total, such as the Shillim line that connects Yeo-ui-do and Seoul National University, the Dongbuk line that connects Wang-shim-ni station and Sang-gye station, and the Myeonmok line that connects Cheong-nyang-ni and Sin-nae-dong. The Ministry is expecting that once the city railway network is built, the ratio of regions with train access within 10 minutes will increase from 62% to 72%.
