2024 강원 동계청소년올림픽(강원2024)이 오늘 막을 올린다. The eastern province of Gangwon-do on Jan. 19 will open the Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics (Gangwon 2024).
아시아에서 처음 열리는 동계청소년올림픽인 강원2024 개막식이 19일 오후 8시 강원도 강릉 스피드스케이팅 경기장과 평창돔에서 펼쳐진다. 강릉 스피드스케이팅 경기장의 개막식 행사는 평창돔으로 생중계된다.
The opening ceremony for Asia’s first hosting of the competition starts at 8 p.m. at the Gangneung Oval in Gangneung and PyeongChang Dome in Pyeongchang-gun County. The event at the former facility will be live-streamed at the latter.
강릉에서 열리는 개막식에는 9000여 명의 관중과 함께 유인촌 문화체육관광부(문체부) 장관과 장미란 문체부 제2차관이 참석하며, 평창돔에는 전병극 문체부 제1차관이 4000여 명의 관중과 함께 할 예정이다.
Approximately 9,000 people will be at the event in Gangneung including Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yu In Chon and Second Vice Minister Jang Miran. In Pyeongchang-gun, First Vice Minister Chun Byong-keuk will participate at the ceremony there with about 4,000 in attendance.
개막식에는 강원2024의 주인공인 청소년들이 무대에 오른다. 댄스팀 ‘턴즈’와 ‘앰비규어댄스컴퍼니’는 청소년과 함께 이번 대회의 메시지인 ‘우리 함께 빛나자’를 주제로 춤 공연을 선보이며 내 안의 빛나는 별, 소우주를 발견하며 성장하는 이야기를 그려나갈 예정이다.
The ceremony will feature a stage for youth, the protagonists of Gangwon 2024. The dance team Turns and Ambiguous Dance Company will perform with youngsters under the competition’s theme “Let Us Shine,” portraying a story where youth discover shining stars and a small universe within themselves to grow together.
개막식의 하이라이트인 성화는 평창에서 출발해 강릉에서 점화된다. 성화 점화에는 전 스켈레톤 선수 윤성빈 등 한국 동계 스포츠의 전설들이 함께 등장한다.
The lighting of the Olympic torch, the highlight of the ceremony, is scheduled in Gangneung after making its final journey from the country. The carriers will be domestic stars of winter sports such as former skeleton champion Yoon Sungbin, who won the gold medal at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
유 장관은 “강원2024에 참가하는 청소년들은 다양한 국가와 인종의 청소년들과 함께 교류하며 잊지 못할 추억을 만들 수 있을 것”이라며 “대회를 찾은 모두가 청소년올림픽이라는 축제를 즐기길 바란다”고 말했다.
“Youth participating in Gangwon 2024 can interact with their peers from many countries and races to create unforgettable memories,” Minister Yu said. “I hope that everyone who visits the competition enjoys this festival called the Youth Olympics.”
강원2024는 다음달 1일까지 강원도 강릉, 평창, 정선, 횡성에서 열리며 79개국 출신의 1803명 선수들이 자신의 기량을 펼친다.
To run through Feb. 1, Gangwon 2024 will be held in Gangwon-do in the city of Gangneung and counties of Pyeongchang-gun, Jeongseon-gun, and Hoeseong-gun. A combined 1,803 athletes from 79 countries will compete.
