서울역과 도라산역을 잇는 정기 관광열차가 2019년 중단 이후 6년 6개월 만에 다시 운행된다. A tourist train connecting Seoul Station and Dorasan Station will resume service for the first time in six years and six months since its suspension in 2019.
통일부는 9일 서울역과 파주 도라산역을 잇는 ‘DMZ(비무장지대) 평화이음 열차’ 운행을 10일 재개한다고 밝혔다.
The Ministry of Unification on April 9 announced that the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) Peace Link Train connecting Seoul Station and Dorasan Station in Paju will resume operation on April 10.
이번 열차의 명칭은 남북 연결의 출발점이라는 상징성을 담아 결정했다. 승객들은 임진강역을 지나 민간인 출입 통제선(민통선) 내부에 있는 도라산역에서 내려 도라전망대, 통일촌 등을 직접 방문할 수 있다.
The train’s name reflects its symbolic meaning as a starting point for inter-Korean connection.
Passengers will pass Imjingang Station and get off at Dorasan Station within the Civilian Control Line, where they can visit Dora Observatory and Unification Village.
도라산역은 지난 2000년 6·15 남북 정상회담과 후속 장관급 회담을 계기로 도출된 남북 간 경의선 복원·철도 연결 합의에 따라 만들어진 철도역이다. 남한 최북단 역이자 북쪽으로 갈 수 있는 첫 번째 관문이다.
Dorasan Station was established following agreements from the June 15, 2000 inter-Korean summit and subsequent ministerial talks to restore the Gyeongui Line and reconnect railways.
It is the northernmost station in South Korea and the first gateway to the North.
오는 5월까지는 둘째와 넷째 금요일에 각 1회, 회당 탑승객 120명 규모로 운영한다. 6월부터는 월 4회, 매주 금요일에 운행할 예정이다.
Through May, the train will run once on the second and fourth Fridays each month with a capacity of 120 passengers per trip.
From June, it will operate four times a month, every Friday.

통일부는 “중단된 도라산역 열차 운영 재개는 남북 간 대결 종식과 평화 공존을 향한 정부 의지의 표명” 이라면서 “DMZ 평화관광 활성화로 한반도 평화와 통일의 공감대를 넓혀 나가겠다”고 말했다.
The Ministry of Unification said, “The resumption of train service to Dorasan Station reflects the government’s commitment to ending inter-Korean confrontation and pursuing peaceful coexistence.”
“It will also expand public consensus on peace and reunification on the Korean Peninsula by promoting DMZ peace tourism.”
