이재명 대통령의 프랑스 국빈 방문을 계기로 한국과 프랑스가 양국 간 협정·양해각서(MOU) 16건을 채택하며 협력의 폭을 넓혔다.
President Lee Jae Myung’s state visit to France has resulted in the signing of 16 agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) to expand bilateral cooperation.
이 가운데 9건은 8일(현지 시간) 이 대통령과 에마뉘엘 마크롱 프랑스 대통령의 정상회담 직후 양 정상이 참석한 가운데 교환됐다.
In the presence of the two leaders immediately after their summit, nine of the 16 accords were exchanged on Sept. 8.
이번 국빈 방문은 지난 4월 방한한 마크롱 대통령의 방한에 따른 답방 성격으로 이뤄졌다.
President Lee’s trip reciprocated the one to Korea in April by French President Emmanuel Macron.
이 대통령은 프랑스 대통령궁인 파리 엘리제궁에서 마크롱 대통령과 약 2시간 동안 단독 오찬을 한 뒤 양국 대표단이 참석한 확대 정상회담을 이어갔다.
President Lee attended a one-on-one luncheon with his counterpart for about two hours, followed by an expanded meeting with delegations from both sides at the Elysee Palace, the French presidential mansion in Paris.
회담 직후 열린 서명식에서 국방, 항공, 인공지능(AI)·반도체·양자기술, 원자력, 산업경쟁력, 지식재산, 우주, 문화협력 등 9개 분야 협력 문건이 체결됐다.
At a signing ceremony immediately after their talks, Seoul and Paris concluded agreements covering cooperation in nine areas: defense, aerospace, artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors and quantum technology, nuclear energy, industrial competitiveness, intellectual property, space and culture.
이어 삼성전자와 프랑스 AI 기업 미스트랄AI 간 투자협약 체결식도 진행됐다.
Samsung Electronics also signed an investment deal with the French company Mistral AI.
양국은 지난 2001년 체결된 군사비밀정보보호협정의 개정의정서에 서명했다.
The two countries signed a protocol revising their 2001 agreement on the protection of classified military information.
개정안은 프랑스의 새로운 비밀분류체계를 반영하고 군사비밀 열람 제한 권한 규정을 신설해 정보 보안을 대폭 강화했다.
The amendment reflects France’s new classification system and greatly raises information security through new provisions restricting access to confidential military data.
이를 통해 양국은 군사정보 교류체계를 더욱 정교화하고 국방협력을 심화하기 위한 제도적 기반을 마련했다.
Through this, both sides have laid the institutional basis for further refining their system of military data exchange and bolstering defense cooperation.
양 정상은 상호군수지원협정도 조속히 마무리하기로 뜻을 모았다. The two leaders also pledged to finalize an accord on joint logistics support as soon as possible.
첨단기술 분야의 실질 협력도 구체화했다. They also set concrete plans for practical cooperation in advanced technologies.
양국은 지난 4월 서명한 협력의향서의 후속조치로 AI·반도체·양자기술 분야 협력 양해각서도 체결했다.
As a follow-up to a letter of intent signed in April, both sides concluded an MOU on cooperation in AI, semiconductors and quantum technology.
양국 AI 스타트업의 상호 시장 진출을 확대하고 기업 및 연구기관 간 공동 연구개발(R&D)을 적극 추진한다는 구상이다.
The MOU aims to expand access to each other’s markets by AI startups and promote joint research and development between companies and think tanks.
공동언론발표 후 이 대통령과 마크롱 대통령은 마리니 영빈관으로 자리를 옮겨 양국 기업 20개사가 참여한 한-프랑스 비즈니스 라운드테이블에 참석했다.
Following a joint news conference, Presidents Lee and Macron moved to the Hotel de Marigny, the official state guesthouse, to attend a business roundtable with 20 companies from both countries.
이 자리에서 두 정상은 기업인들과 만나 양국 기업 간 교류와 투자 확대를 당부했다. The two leaders spoke to executives there and urged more exchanges and investment between Korean and French companies.
위성락 국가안보실장은 브리핑에서 “5개월 만에 이뤄진 상호 국빈 방문으로 두 정상의 신뢰와 유대가 더욱 공고해졌다” 면서 “이를 바탕으로 양국 협력을 더욱 구체적이고 실질적으로 발전시켜 나가는 계기를 마련했다”고 평가했다.
“These reciprocal state visits by the two leaders, which were held just five months apart, have further boosted their trust and ties,” National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac said in a briefing. “This has created an opportunity to develop bilateral cooperation in a more concrete and substantive manner.”
