올해 상반기 한국을 찾은 외국인 관광객이 1000만 명을 돌파했다. The number of foreign visitors to Korea has surpassed 10 million in the first half of this year.
문화체육관광부(문체부)는 올해 들어 지난 주말(6월 3주)까지 한국을 찾은 외국인 관광객이 1000만 명(잠정)을 넘어섰다고 24일 밝혔다. 지난해 7월 중순에 1000만 명을 돌파한 것과 비교하면 약 한 달 앞당긴 셈이다.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on June 24 said the tentative figure as of the third week of June exceeded 10 million. This milestone was thus reached about a month earlier than last year, when the mark was reached in mid-July.
5월 한 달 동안 한국을 방문한 관광객은 195만 명으로, 지난해 같은 기간(163만 명) 대비 19.4% 늘었다.
An estimated 1.95 million foreign visitors came in May alone, up 19.4% from 1.63 million year on year.
국가별로는 중국 56만 명, 일본 36만 명이 방한해 지난 4월에 이어 1, 2위를 각각 차지했다. 대만(19만 명)도 전년 같은 기간에 견줘 27.6% 증가했고 홍콩에서도 6만 명이 찾는 등 중화권 시장의 성장세가 두드러졌다. 구미주 지역(36만 명) 역시 전년 동기 대비 큰 폭으로 늘어나 다양한 권역에서 방한 관광객이 늘어난 것으로 확인됐다.
By country, China in May remained the largest source of visitors with 560,000, followed by Japan with 360,000, the same result as in April. The number of tourists from Taiwan also surged 27.6% to 190,000 and Hong Kong sent about 60,000, highlighting strong growth in the Greater China region.
Arrivals from Europe and the Americas also grew to 360,000, showing growth across a range of regions.
방한 외국인 관광객의 지역 분산도 계속해서 이뤄지고 있다. 5월 한 달간 지방공항으로 입국한 외국인은 36만 명으로 전년 동기(27만 명) 보다 32.0% 급증했다.
More visitors entered the country at venues outside of the Seoul metropolitan region. The number of such tourists arriving at airports outside of the capital hit 360,000 in May, up 32% from 270,000 year on year.
5월 외국인 관광객의 카드 지출액(온라인 소비액 포함)은 약 2조 1000억 원으로 추산돼 지난 2018년 1월 집계가 시작된 이후 최초로 월 단위 기준 2조 원을 돌파했다. 올해 1~5월 누적 카드 소비액은 전년 동기 대비 47.3% 증가한 7조 9845억 원을 기록했다.
Card spending by international travelers including online purchases was an estimated KRW 2.1 trillion, surpassing the KRW 2 trillion mark for the first time since compilation of such data began in January 2018. Cumulative card spending from January through May reached KRW 7.98 trillion, up 47.3% year on year.
