After a disappointing performance that saw South Korea fail to reach the round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, captain Son Heung-min indicated he would continue to remain available for the national team.

In a post on social media on Tuesday, Son apologized to fans and the public, saying that he was truly sorry for the team’s performance and acknowledging that supporters would have felt frustration and disappointment watching the matches.

South Korea finished third in Group A with one win and two losses in the group stage, confirming their elimination from the tournament on Sunday.

Son said the tournament, which he described as the “set of a childhood dream,” was deeply meaningful to him, adding that it was painful to see that dream collapse and that he was still struggling to accept the result.

Despite the disappointment, he vowed to return stronger, saying he would do everything he could to restore fans’ trust and continue fulfilling his promise to give his all for the national team.

He also urged fans to show support rather than excessive criticism toward the players, asking for warmth and encouragement despite the painful exit.
