한일 국방 수장이 양국 교류 확대와 첨단 과학기술 분야 협력을 강화하기로 했다. The Ministry of National Defense will expand bilateral exchanges with Japan and boost bilateral cooperation in cutting-edge technology and science.
안규백 국방부 장관과 고이즈미 신지로 일본 방위대신이 지난 28일 서울에서 한일 국방장관 회담을 열어 이 같은 안보 협력 방안에 합의했다고 국방부가 밝혔다.
The ministry on June 28 said Minister Ahn Gyu-Back and Japanese Minister of Defense Shinjiro Koizumi agreed in a bilateral summit in Seoul that day on these measures in security cooperation.
회담에서 양측은 상호 방문 및 회담 정례화, 9년 만에 실시된 한일 해군 간 수색·구조훈련(SAREX) 재개 등을 높이 평가했다.
Both officials lauded the adoption of regular mutual visits and meetings, as well as the resumption of bilateral search and rescue exercises by both navies after a nine-year hiatus.
아울러 역내 평화와 안정을 위해 한일 및 한미일 안보 협력도 지속해 나가기로 했다. 양국 특수비행팀인 블랙이글스와 블루 임펄스 간 교류 협력, 다양한 해난사고에 대비한 수색·구조훈련 발전, 인공지능(AI) 등 첨단 과학기술 분야 협력 강화에도 뜻을 모았다.
In addition, Seoul and Tokyo agreed to maintain trilateral security cooperation with the U.S. and collaboration to promote peace and stability in the region. They also pledged to promote exchanges and cooperation between their aerobatic teams — the Black Eagles of Korea and Blue Impulse of Japan — to boost search and rescue training for accidents at sea and ties in state-of-the-art science and technology such as artificial intelligence.
