인공지능(AI) 인프라 투자 확대에 힘입어 반도체와 컴퓨터·주변기기 수출이 크게 증가하며 정보통신산업-ICT 수출이 또 한 번 역사를 새로 썼다.
Information and communications technology (ICT) exports last month posted their highest monthly performance in history thanks to surging demand for semiconductors and computer peripherals, fueled by growing investment in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
지난 5월 ICT 수출은 역대 최고 실적을 갈아치우며 3개월 연속 400억 달러(약 60조 4800억 원)를 넘어섰다. 무역수지 역시 사상 최대 흑자다.
Such shipments passed USD 40 billion (KRW 60.48 trillion) for the third consecutive month to set the all-time record, and also led to a record trade surplus.
과학기술정보통신부와 산업통상자원부에 따르면 5월 ICT 수출이 477억 9000만 달러로 전년 동월 대비 128.9% 증가했다. ICT 수입은 157억 달러로 36.0% 늘었다. 이에 따라 무역수지는 320억 9000만 달러 흑자를 기록했다.
The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources on June 15 said ICT exports last month surged 128.9% year on year to USD 47.79 billion. Imports in the sector increased 36% to USD 15.7 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of USD 32.09 billion.
품목별로는 반도체 수출이 전년 동월 대비 169.2% 수직 상승한 371억 6000만 달러를 기록했다. AI 서버 투자 확대에 따른 메모리 반도체 수요 증가가 실적을 이끌었다.
By item, exports of semiconductors shot up 169.2% to USD 37.16 billion. The strong performance was fueled by higher demand for memory chips as global companies expanded investment in AI servers and related infrastructure.
컴퓨터·주변기기 수출은 반도체 기반 저장 장치인 SSD(Solid-State Drive) 수요 확대로 259.6% 치솟은 43억 3000만 달러를 달성했다. 휴대전화와 디스플레이, 통신장비 수출도 일제히 증가하며 ICT 수출 호조에 힘을 보탰다.
Overseas shipments of computers and peripheral devices skyrocketed 259.6% to USD 4.33 billion thanks to surging demand for solid-state drives (SSDs), or chip-based storage devices widely used in AI and data-center applications. Exports of mobile phones, displays and telecommunications equipment also grew, contributing to the overall expansion of ICT exports.
지역별로는 중국(195억 1000만 달러), 미국(81억 1000만 달러), 베트남(67억 7000만 달러) 등 주요 시장에서 견고한 성장세를 보였다. 대만·유럽연합(EU)·인도·일본에서도 고른 증가세가 지속됐다.
By market, exports posted solid gains across major destinations including China (USD 19.51 billion), the United States (USD 8.11 billion) and Vietnam (USD 6.77 billion). Shipments to Taiwan, the European Union (EU), India and Japan also maintained steady growth.
