누구나 부담 없이 생리대를 무료로 사용하는 공공 서비스가 첫발을 뗐다. A pilot public program for providing free women’s sanitary pads has been launched nationwide.
성평등가족부는 6일부터 전국 시범지역 공공시설에서 공공생리대(모두의 생리대) 서비스를 순차적으로 시작한다고 밝혔다. The service sponsored by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family began on July 6 at public facilities in pilot regions.
시범지역은 서울 광진구·은평구, 경기 광명시·수원시, 충남 서천군 등 12개 지자체다. Twelve local governments including the Gwangjin-gu and Eunpyeong-gu districts of Seoul; Gwangmyeong and Suwon, Gyeonggi-do Province; and Seocheon-gun County, Chungcheongnam-do Province, are offering the free pads.
도서관, 청소년 시설 등 접근성이 높은 공공시설 500여 곳을 중심으로 생리대와 지급기를 비치하고 준비를 마친 곳부터 서비스를 시작한다. 제공하는 생리대는 중형 규격이다. ‘공공생리대’ 또는 ‘모두의 생리대’라고 적힌 포장지 1팩에 2개씩 담아 공급한다.
Some 500 public facilities with high accessibility like libraries and youth centers will have dispensers installed, with the service to start at places that have completed preparations. Mid-size pads are provided, with each package of two labeled as “public sanitary pads” or “sanitary pads for all.”
지급기는 현장 여건에 따라 수동식과 자동식을 병행 운영한다. 수동 지급기는 이용자가 직접 생리대를 꺼내 쓰는 방식이다. 자동 지급기는 ‘받기’ 버튼을 누르면 기기에서 제품이 나온다.
Both manual and automatic dispensers are used depending on a site’s conditions.
자동 지급기는 20초 간격을 두고 작동한다. 시각장애인 등을 위한 음성과 점자 안내 기능도 갖췄다. 전자파 검사 등 품질과 안전성을 확인한 뒤 오는 20일부터 현장에 순차적으로 설치할 계획이다.
An automatic dispenser runs at 20-second intervals and has voice and Braille guidance for visually impaired users. After undergoing safety and quality inspections through tests for electromagnetic compatibility, this type will be installed at sites in phases from July 20.
성평등가족부는 누리집을 활용해 이용 가능한 시설 정보를 제공한다. 앞으로는 지도 검색 기능을 도입해 가까운 이용 시설과 실시간 재고 현황까지 한눈에 확인할 수 있도록 서비스를 확대할 방침이다.
The ministry will provide information on facilities with the dispensers on its website. It will also introduce a map-based search function to allow users to locate nearby facilities and real-time pad availability.
