한국을 찾는 외국인 관광객이 늘면서 올해 2분기 외국인의 국내 카드 사용액이 사상 최대치를 기록했다.
The rising number of foreign visitors to Korea led their credit and debit card spending in the country to a record high in the second quarter of this year.
한국은행이 2일 발표한 ‘2분기 중 거주자의 카드 해외 사용실적’에 따르면 올해 2분기 비거주자의 신용·체크카드 국내 사용액은 48억 6000만 달러로 전 분기보다 36.1% 증가했다.
According to the Bank of Korea’s report on residents’ overseas card usage in the second quarter, released on Sept. 2, nonresidents’ credit and debit card spending in Korea reached USD 4.86 billion in the second quarter, up 36.1% from the previous quarter.
이는 종전 최고치였던 지난해 2분기 37억 9000만 달러보다 10억 7000만 달러 늘어난 규모다.
This was USD 1.07 billion higher than the previous record of USD 3.79 billion set in the second quarter of last year.
비거주자가 국내에서 사용한 카드 수는 2502만 장으로 전 분기보다 34.3% 늘었다. 카드 한 장당 사용액은 194달 러로 1% 증가했다.
The number of cards used by nonresidents in Korea rose 34.3% from the previous quarter to 25.02 million. Average spending per card increased 1% to USD 194.
반면 올해 2분기 국내 거주자의 해외 카드 사용액은 58억 5000만 달러로 전 분기보다 4.2% 감소했다.
By contrast, overseas card spending by residents of Korea amounted to USD 5.85 billion in the second quarter, down 4.2% from the previous quarter.
