한국이 지난해 국제회의 개최 순위 세계 2위에 올랐다. The country last year hosted the second-most international conferences in the world.
국제협회연합(UIA)이 발표한 ‘2025년 국제회의 통계보고서’에서 한국이 미국에 이어 국제회의 개최 순위 세계 2위를 기록했다고 문화체육관광부가 25일 밝혔다.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on June 25 quoted a report from the Union of International Associations as saying Korea finished behind only the U.S.
UIA에 따르면 지난해 전 세계에서 열린 국제회의는 총 9281건이다. 이 가운데 한국은 491건(5.29%)을 개최해 전년(343건·3.87%) 대비 순위가 4단계 상승했다.
The report said the country hosted 491 of the 9,281 international meetings held worldwide last year, or 5.29%, rising four spots from sixth in 2024, when it hosted 343 events (3.87%).
도시별 순위에서는 서울이 비엔나와 브뤼셀에 이어 세계 3위에 올랐다. 아태지역에서는 일본을 제치고 1위를 차지했다. 부산과 인천도 각각 세계 22위와 42위에 이름을 올렸다.
By city, Seoul placed third worldwide after Vienna and Brussels and first in the Asia-Pacific region. Busan was 22nd and Incheon 42nd.
문체부는 2025 아시아태평양경제협력체(APEC) 정상회의 개최 효과와 국제행사 유치·지원 정책이 성과로 이어진 것으로 보고, 국제회의산업 경쟁력 강화 정책을 지속 추진할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
Attributing the higher ranking to the hosting of last year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, and policy actions to attract and support international events, the ministry pledged to continue efforts to raise the competitiveness of Korea’s meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions industry.
