올해 김과 가공밥 수출액이 1년 전보다 각각 20% 이상 늘며 역대 최대 실적을 달성했다. Exports of gim (seaweed) and processed rice have hit record highs this year, with overseas shipments of each product growing over 20%.
관세청은 올해 1~10월 김 수출액이 전년 동기 대비 20.4% 증가한 6억7000만 달러, 가공밥은 29.9% 증가한 7900만 달러를 기록했다고 29일 밝혔다.
The Korea Customs Service on Nov. 29 said seaweed exports from January to October rose 20.4% from the same period last year to USD 670 million and those of processed rice rose 29.9% to USD 79 million.
김의 경우 이번달 20일까지 누적된 수출액이 7억1100만 달러로 사상 처음 7억 달러를 넘어섰다. 관세청은 “이 추세라면 연말까지 8억 달러 돌파도 기대된다”고 밝혔다.
Through Nov. 20, seaweed exports this year broke USD 700 million for the first time at USD 711 million. The agency said, “At this rate, the figure is expected to exceed USD 800 million by year’s end.”
가공밥 수출액은 연간 기준 역대 최대였던 지난해 실적 7600만 달러를 10개월 만에 넘어섰다.
Processed rice exports this year broke last year’s record annual high of USD 76 million in just 10 months.
품목별 수출액을 보면 반찬 뿐만 아니라 간식으로도 인기 있는 조미김이 4억1100만 달러, 김밥, 김과자 등의 재료로 사용되는 건조김이 2억5900만 달러, 즉석밥이 6600만 달러를 기록하며 상위에 올랐다.
By item, seasoned seaweed, a snack as well as a popular side dish, led the pack with USD 411 million. Dried seaweed, commonly used in gimbap (seaweed rice rolls) and seaweed snacks, contributed USD 259 million, and instant rice USD 66 million.
김과 가공밥 수출국 또한 역대 최다를 기록했다. 김은 미국, 일본, 중국 등 120개국으로 수출됐으며 가공밥은 미국, 호주, 중국 등 87개국으로 수출됐다.
The number of export markets for seaweed and processed rice also reached an all-time high. Seaweed was shipped to 120 countries including the U.S., Japan, and China, and processed rice to 87 like the U.S., Australia, and China.
국가별로 보면 김 수출액은 미국이 1억4200만 달러로 가장 많았으며 일본(1억2300만 달러), 중국(8800만 달러)이 뒤를 이었다. 가공밥 수출액은 미국이 6300만 달러, 호주와 중국이 각각 300만 달러와 200만 달러를 기록했다.
By country, the U.S. was the biggest importer of gim with USD 142 million, followed by Japan with USD 123 million and China with USD 88 million. The American market was also No. 1 for processed rice exports with USD 63 million, followed by Australia with USD 3 million and China with USD 2 million.
김은 올해 크로아티아, 탄자니아 등 4개 국가에, 가공밥은 크로아티아, 라트비아, 콩고 민주공화국 등 7개 국가에 처음으로 수출됐다.
Seaweed gained four new export markets this year including Croatia and Tanzania and processed rice seven like Croatia, Latvia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
관세청은 “코로나19로 인한 전 세계 온라인 동영상 서비스(OTT) 이용 증가에 힘입어 확산된 한국 콘텐츠 소비는 K-푸드를 포함한 한류 열풍을 불러왔다”며 “이에 맞춰 현지 상황에 맞는 상품을 출시한 우리 기업의 노력이 보태진 결과로 보인다”고 밝혔다.
“The consumption of Korean content fueled by increased use of online video services around the world due to COVID-19 brought about the Hallyu (Korean Wave) craze, including that for K-food,” the agency said. “This is apparently the result of our companies’ efforts to launch products tailored for each market’s conditions.”
